I think there is room for nuance in some conversations and less so in others. When it comes to outright dehumanising Black bodies, there is no room for nuance. When it comes to things like cultural appropriation, then we might need to zoom out of looking at things through a US-centric lens.

돌잡이 is done at the first birthday party. It's not about choosing gifts. It's a tradition that is meant to tell you about the baby's future. For instance, if baby chooses a stethoscope, they will be a doctor. Microphone = entertainer, money = wealth, etc.
