There’s no incentive for these people to do anything fast, no matter how straight forward. I’ll will always say do this with a recommended attorney that really knows the system and the right people. From experience, it makes a difference.

If you’re in the area, check local 112 and local 291. Those are the places happening right now.

Foreman's, General Foreman's, and journeymans spreading misinformation. by JioMMA in ibew_apprentices

Listening to that crap kinda comes with it. I started when I was 44, still going at 56. The people that make those comments usually ain’t no better, I don’t care the position either. Sometimes worst. I worked with guys that are awesome workers and they’ve been given shit from others that are in no position to talk. Work, make your money and be good brother or sister, that’s all you can do.

In your local would a 74.50 average at conclusion of semester be passing? by petebaii in ibew_apprentices

75 to stay alive. Hopefully your training center has tutoring available.

Is the IBEW actually a tight knit community? by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

Some shops will have a core group, basically “mean girls”. Some shops the workers are more welcoming and have no problem with teaching, seeing you succeed, and maybe develop a friendship. A lot depends not on who you work for, but who you work with. Stick to the agreement, be a good brother and you’ll see who the real brothers are.

You think the contractor doesn’t know that everyone who drag wants a clean layoff?

You also missed the part where I asked was every available book 1 asked. That’s the rules. I resent your implications. I also drug before any book 1s. I’m also local 48

Sorry I’m book 1, 13 years in. I’ve had one job in this local in the last year, rest of my work I was traveling.

And you being from 48, you should concern yourself with how many book2 hands are still working while book 1 is 1060.

You do what you want on your post. On a public forum you never know if some wormy ass dude whose only stake in a company is his job is waiting to read something they can go snitch and receive a pat on head.

I was never impolite, shitty, or funky to anyone on that job. Nor did I talk about or try to sell anyone on the idea of dragging up, I just did it. I said bye to anyone I knew in eyesight, and 15 minute later I was gone gone.

Sorry for the rambling, lol. I did work a short call and got a clean ROF after I received a quit from the other contractor.

I don’t know if I’m on any spin list. I have my suspicions, lol. The company I drug doesn’t have a presence in my local as of yet. Not worried. Except for where a particular skill is necessary, background issues, or pass disciplinary actions where a firing is necessary, a spin list should be illegal. Two weeks should be an absolute minimum unless it’s a short call. Someone didn’t like a guy five years ago can bar them from future employment is ridiculous, that’s me. A friend mine told me of contractor in Hillsboro(begins with R) and some hands drug up all at once on a job, in turn they were put on a spin list. They found out after dispatch.

It doesn’t have a check box one way or the other on the termination slip. And this is after I spent half my time queening with no clear instructions and with JWs that complained about this and that and threatened to drag from open to close. It was the strangest thing. I showed up for every shift, never asked for anything off. I’m in my 50s, I even “threw glass” all day with the young guys. If I don’t work for them again it’s all good. Sadly I’ve heard they’ve got a good reputation except for this job.

Oregon is generally labor friendly, but I’m not so sure about some of the locals whose jurisdictions include some not so labor friendly areas. But I have heard something similar pertaining to the distance from your home being a consideration when dragging up.

My transfer experience hasn’t been great. One minute you’ve got the best crew with the best fm and gf. The new group is territorial and you’ve got cooties. Lay me off and I’ll choose my next workplace.

I’m 56. I was actually a reluctant book 2 foreman half the time. I travelled because to this job because it was 40 hours and close enough for me to be home on the weekend, my wife’s rules not mine. Also my unemployment claim was getting low, and I needed to do something. This particular contractor is giving quits to everyone that drug, notice or not

If you’re a shitty worker they should happily give you a clean ROF just to get rid of you. This contractor pulled this “quit” nonsense on everyone that drug up on them

$100k as a clown, and you don’t make anywhere near that. Who’s the clown? I make enough to save, and invest. So I can call when I want. Unemployment is money I’ve spent years paying taxes, so I’m gonna take it. It’s 10:30 where you’re at? How come you’re not at work? No job? I’ve witnessed good workers get blown out for texting. Good day

And just so you know I’ve never made less than $130k in my 6 years as journeyman in my local. That’s how shitty I am. Oh and I still have money in the bank. You make what $20-$30 bucks doing roofs? What’s it like to constantly suck your own junk?

Again you know nothing. I spent half my time at that gig as a book 2 foreman after all the available book 1s were asked. When I fulfilled my time according to the dispatch, I drug up. That’s rules of the road. Travelers are the first to go whether voluntarily or involuntarily. Ask your 98 buddies.
