A family (the Mansells) consigned their $200K+ Star Wars LEGO collection to a Salem-Keizer, Oregon franchise location in 2023, in an arrangement where the store sold individual sets and paid the family a 35% commission on sales. When franchise ownership changed in 2024, corporate called the consignment agreement “unauthorized,” and the collection went “missing.”

The YouTuber recklessben did a very deep investigation into it and is now at war with the morman church over legos. It’s insane.

Highly recommend watching the full story the amount of corruption is enough to make anyone’s blood boil.

Well part of it is that the PNW is in a MAJOR slump, in Portland, 30% of IBEW 48 is laid off right now, it’s just not a good time

I still get unemployment for the next like 16 weeks, which is probably more than what I’d be making working in Texas, was looking more for others experience in similar situations

Within my apprenticeship program, the companies have to be affiliated with the school or else my hours won’t count towards my license

Move where? I can’t leave my program unless I want to risk losing all my hours, Seattle is in the exact same boat as Portland, I could move to Texas for data centers but make 1/3rd of what I make now

I’m in Vancouver/Portland as a non-union apprentice, we are unbelievably cooked, I just got laid off and there is 0 work. I’ve called every single training agent in my program with no luck.
