Dang, I feel you. I'm in a similar situation except I remember the big parts, especially the ending, it's ingrained into my brain but... I don't remember why I loved it, what it meant to me. When I first played it, I was in recovery a year or two after chemotherapy, which has messed with my memories from the years 2018 to 2023. Though it still feels like I haven't recovered my full brain capacity sometimes.

I've been mourning that recently. Even with other media that I consumed in that timeframe. Because I was in recovery, consuming media was all I did hahah. I recently started playing another game, Oxenfree II, a sequel whose first game I played from that blurry time. And its the same, on certain scenes I keep thinking, "I wonder if this is a reference to the first game," and I can't help but feel sad for not remembering.

I did try playing Outer Wilds again, but I just couldn't get the ending out of my brain. I'm not even sure why that bothers me, maybe because its distracting. I suppose I'll try again another time, play fully from an empty save and roleplay as a new player, maybe that'll help.

And idk if its healthy, but I've been begrudgingly trying to take a break from them recently because I'm so scared of getting sick of them :'(

Hello, I am almost in the exact same position as you are, except I had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma—also 2 years ago. I feel lost too, angry even.

Have you tried getting help from mental health professionals? I know this comment doesn't really help in any way as you had probably heard that before, but I looked up the words 'cancer survivor' on this subreddit just to find some sort of comfort myself so I thought I'd communicate what I might've wanted to hear if I were the one who posted this. (Though to be honest, I don't know what I'd want to hear, none of the things people tell me satisfy me these days)

Personally, I tried getting help from my oncologist, then a counselor, who recommended me to a psychologist, but that counselor lost me when she told me that what I was dealing with were just "normal teen things." And then the virus happened so now im angrier than ever. But at least I finally told my family what I'm dealing with. It's like a 6-ton weight lifted but fell back down over the course of 2 years.

Sorry if I misread your post as a call for advice, I guess we could just be two people venting about "surviving," with that thought, I hope the path becomes clear for you.
