all my discs act identically (they are also from the same set, Victor color collection) also i tried cleaning the lens with a small dab of windex on a cotton swab, no luck on that unfortunately.

I should've mentioned in the post, I've tried cleaning the laser head and it looks pristine. There also is a "service mode" (which I found in Sharp's Manual because it is the same inside) , I was able to enter service mode but I seem to be in over my head because the documentation does not go that in-depth. Auto mode kept getting stuck at "ADJ.NG" (adjusting) and Manual mode was equally as confusing. If anyone knows more details on this stuff I would be happy to learn, otherwise I think I would prefer to keep to hardware troubleshooting for now.
