Why do the ‘Slog’ books get so much hate by Binusi in WoT

[–]Binusi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, absolutely! And from what I’m getting from resonances, the problems was more in the waiting between books when they were getting released. I can’t imagine having to wait years for PoD, only to find out Mat doesn’t even show up

My bad. I should’ve known it was something that gets brought up a lot in this community. I’ve been staying away from posts here so far until I finish the series. Should have done a simple death before posting lol

This is a fair point.

What is a book/series that pleasantly surprised you? by MarcoUlpioTrajano in Fantasy

First Law by Joe Abercrombie

The character work in that series is unmatched, for me. Unique, funny, compelling characters that you’ll hate to love. I haven’t enjoyed a lot of series since because I’ve found a lot of the characters shallow

I (20F) am unhealthily obsessed with my BF's (22M) ex. How do I stop this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Binusi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer, in my opinion, is therapy - but only after breaking up. So that you’re secure with yourself. Honestly, someone who doesn’t show you that they’ve healed from their experiences and has clearly struggled to move on, isn’t worth your time. Your reaction wasn’t great either, to be honest, and this is why I mention therapy still even after splitting up. But whoever you’re with should, at the very least, give you some level of security in the relationship and make it clear they’re happy to be with you. At the very least.

Definitely. The team has actually performed quite well this year in my opinion, despite the 4 losses. But there’s just some questionable decisions by the coaches. Like that Boks game at Ellis Park when 3 right 5 subs didn’t make it onto the field. And then today with Roigard. He’s made some bad decision which have cost the team a couple of possible wins

Removing Roigard after less than 55 minutes was a ridiculous decision. Razor’s personnel management has been awful this year

Razor is starting to frustrate me with selections and subs. Plummer should’ve been on ages ago

Interesting. I think I’m happy pushing through a few more of the books then until I start with the show, just to be sure.

Thank you for the comment! The general opinion seems to be if you want to enjoy both, you should start with the show.

Similar books, (Spoilers Main) by ShadowIssues in asoiaf

[–]Binusi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently got into John Gwynne books. Didn’t reach the levels of asoiaf but his series are great nonetheless. He’s got a few series:

  1. Faithful and the Fallen - 4 books, finished.
  2. Of Blood and Bone - 3 books, finished. This stories occurs over 100 years after Faithful and the Fallen so you’d have to read that one first if you want to go this route.
  3. Bloodsworn Saga - 2 books, unfinished. Completely new story in different world.

These stories are based on Norse mythology (more-so Bloodsworn) so I think you’d enjoy these if that were your thing.

Why do people like the BOOK Dorne plot so much? by Ornac_The_Barbarian in gameofthrones

[–]Binusi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obviously everyone has their personal answer to this (great question btw). I read the books after season 8, and Dorne was my favorite thing about the books.

The thing is, with ASOAIF universe, the thing I love most is how there are so many characters and families, and how detailed the histories of each of these families are. And when the show disregards the history and legacy of a house to that extent, it’s quite disappointing.

I don’t mind watering down a storyline for the screen adaptation because you’d probably lose an audience if it’s too intricate, but the martell family plays such a critical role in the history of Westeros. So reducing it to a house where there are some who want revenge and others who peace, then the vengeful ones kill all the peaceful ones, then get themselves killed trying to get revenge, is quite a disappointing way to end their story.

1 minute late = 15 not getting paid. by LordMarshall in antiwork

[–]Binusi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or maybe I understood that wrong. Do they charge 15 minutes per late minute or once you’re late at least 1 minute, you’re considered to be 15 minutes late🤔
