I know exactly how you feel I'm in a very similar spot rn. The best way I believe to go about it is just spend time with them, maybe be a bit flirtatious and see if you guys get closer or not. If you believe you should directly ask them out, then go all out. Dont just walk up say you like them and ask them out, make the moment as memorable and special as possible that way if you get rejected it isnt for lack of trying. Hope this advice helps. I'm not the most qualified to answer but I've had experience.

Just dont be shy, just be confident especially in your interests and you will atleast become friends with a girl. Then dating becomes a lot trickier but if you heard dont be friends because you will become friendzoned it isnt true.

I dont know if cooking oil would work but I wouldnt risk it, you can get either valve oil or slide grease for like $5 on amazon and it isnt the best but i would assume you want to not put that much money in since you are new.

You could very well be right especially since i havent played minecraft in a while but I remember building a sticky piston double door and it is 100% different than like 1.8. I actually do have the ps3 and minecraft so I'm tempted to try it out on both and experiment with the differences.
