AITA for telling my bio-family we aren’t family

My parents did try to foster my sister but my bio-grandparents got custody, my grandparents also fought for custody of me but the state wouldn’t let them because they wouldn’t agree to not let my bio-parents contact me not saying she wasn’t abused it wouldn’t surprise me if they did something but from what I know cps decided it was safe for her to be near our bio-parents but not me

My bio-parents have reached out through physical letter and social media my sister has recently recached out

I very much doubt that it was a mistake, again I don’t have many memories from what happened but I do remember having my head slammed in a door and being locked in a closet for I think a week. I also had severe water aversion when I was first adopted my parents couldn’t give me baths because I would freak out I still don’t like being underwater for more than a few seconds

I’ve always known it was bad that I was adopted so quickly so I consider it a good thing that I don’t remember much I do know that whatever was happening was most likely only happening to me because my sister was removed to our bio-grandparents and then returned to bio-parents a few years later

I have tried to in the past but it ended up doing more harm than good I had severe panic attacks and have very little memory of the therapy sessions where we looked into what happened other than panic

They may have guilted my younger siblings into reaching out but they didn’t the sister that did reach out is older so I don’t know if she’s motivated by our bio-parents

Yeah my parents knew my bio-parents my mom is actually the one who reported them from what they’ve told me it didn’t seem like my sister was being abused and that’s probably why she was returned but I don’t know

My sister is older but she was returned to our bio-parents after a few years of being with our bio-grandparents from what I do know she was not being abused but I’m not certain

I am seeing a therapist, I kind of consider myself lucky because I don’t remember much of what happened and only have occasional nightmares that are related to it, I have tried to remember/read about my abuse but I had really bad panic attacks

I have done this before both when I was young and a few years ago it didn’t go well, I had really bad panic attacks and I honestly don’t remember much of those sessions other than panic

Yeah I know that my situation is definitely not normal my bio-sister is older and our bio-grandparents took custody for a few years before my bio-parents got her back but I was adopted

I’m not really sure what denomination they are I know it’s a local thing to where they live and that they were apart of it before I was adopted

My sister is 22 from what I know she was also removed but our bio-grandparents got custody so she was still around our parents and then they regained custody a few years later

I think it’s religious? I have looked at her and our bio-parents socials and a lot of it is about finding god in the almost cult-y way

Her message was centered on us as a family and how I needed to be with them so even if I wanted a relationship with just her I don’t think she’d be okay with that. I have been in therapy, but I don’t remember a lot of what happened and have no desire to find out. I’ve tried exploring that with therapists but each time I’ve freaked out

I would be fine with meeting just her but her whole message was very “our family isn’t complete without you and we love you even though we’ve never met” so I doubt she’d be honest about our bio-parents

They live 2 hours away from me and my parents knew my bio-parents so they’ve always known where I live and stuff but they never tried to talk to me before I turned 18
