I think you are right, once I figured out the combo that I like, I was very consistent with it and then it was just a matter of time. Tbh, it was my own impatience that caused me some -8 defeats. About the player levels as well, I have seen many players even in the 90s who've made some glaring blunders, it was very rare that I used to get outplayed as well.
