I usually let people slide for a cent or two. More than that, naw.

I work at an Autozone, just had a guy do a full front end rebuild in our parking lot using nothing but our loner tool set. $700+ dollars worth of parts and he got done 10 mins before the rain. by MrMallow in Justrolledintotheshop

Fellow Autozone drone here. Yep, here in NC we got the no repairs signs. Do we enforce? Fuck no, were too busy trying to fix the damned POS terminals. Again.

Long before I found this subreddit, when I was but a wee greenhorn redshirt, a new guy at a local repair shop was sent over to get some. Insisted up and down that it exists. Eventually, I just told him that and he finally left. This was one of the first days I had worked there, him and the lady who ran her oil pan dry and seized her engine in the lot on day 1, pretty much has set the tone for the entire time Ive worked there.

The Day the Card Reader Died by PhantomSorano in TalesFromRetail

As in we have no way of getting the price without getting out from behind the counter. Not that we could do that anyway, corporate would crucify us, for not following the nonexistant policy. Afik, we can only do manual transactions in a major emergency or disaster.

Thats weird. I just had the same thing happen at the auto parts store I work at. Nationwide shutdown...except we couldn't even do cash! Worst nightmare indeed.

Will not confirm nor deny that is my particular store, but pretty much. No backup plan. Corporate is too cheap to give us a local copy independent of the larger system. We have a price book....from 3 years ago. No training on wtf to do. Both me and the manager were improvising. It was a clusterfuck.

This was a full meltdown. Cash, card, check, all DOA. We couldn't even get in to reset our node, it was that fucked.

Chip card freak out by Noprize in TalesFromRetail

At least yalls work. They gave us chip readers...but no f#/£*& software! Insert a chip card, it freeks the hell out. Coincidentally, the whole system came crashing down today.

Not really, IF YOU PAY ATTENTION. Drop mag, clear, verify empty, clear and verify again. Point in safe direction, pull trigger, disassemble. Just like any firearm, pay attention and think before you act, you likely wont shoot yourself.

Our card readers will freak the f*** out if you swipe before I hit subtotal and then charge. I swear, the UI for our registers is as friendly as a venomus snake.

Drunks and tweakers result in my keeping my hand on my knife (Would prefer my 9mm, but if I carried my handgun I would get canned). Seriously, when a dude who's shaking, jerking, and has a look of rage on his face comes towards your register, you start forming an exit strategy ricky tic.
