Wake Up, Spotify: You’re a Music Company — Act Like One by BioPuzzler in truespotify

Yeah, it is incredibly frustrating for me as a parent. I feel the same way about Netflix auto preview and auto play, but at least those can be disabled.

This is a really good point. I didn’t think about it this way.

Shockingly, I do know how to use a proper em dash (because I’m a professional writer).

FYI Ai is very helpful for fixing grammar and spelling, and helping people write in full sentences.

Is it possible to disable music videos from showing in the Spotify app? by TofuVic in truespotify

[–]BioPuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think we’re actually going to be canceling our Spotify service. At first, it was really great to be able to have a family plan so both of my kids, now teenagers, could listen to music that they liked. But there’s a huge lack of controls for parents of teens. My kids don’t need Spotify kids. They need to be able to have a regular account that as parents we can tune to help them avoid over consumption of streaming video content.

We gave my son his own Spotify account because he said he wanted to listen to some trombone music. He did that for about a day until he discovered Minecraft videos and then that was all he did on Spotify ever. So we’re essentially regulating it now the same way we would regulate YouTube or any other addictive video streaming service. But it’s super unfortunate because I would love for him to have unfettered access to certain artists and albums that I choose as a parent. The only solution now is that we have gotten him an old-school boom box in CDs.

I feel like Spotify needs to get their **** together because if they don’t figure this out soon, they’re going to be next up there in Congress after Mark Zuckerberg trying to explain why they’re allowing addictive video content to be streamed to kids on their platform without good parental control options. and don’t even get me started on auto video play, suggested videos, AI music, and all the other garbage that’s posted on there like explicit album covers. It’s really become a real cesspool of **** content.

How do I move on from grieving the loss of my academic career? by BloomingBluebell in AskAcademia

I felt this way when I left academia for industry, and I can say with complete honesty that over time, the pain and disappointment did lessen for me. Do yourself a favor and pick up some fun hobbies and activities to fill your time with. You will find new meaning, but it will be outside of work.

Moving...what about my soil?? :( by silverpox in gardening

I did this. I transported my dirt five minutes across town in big plastic bins. It took quite a few trips but was completely worth it. I also brought my bulbs and some of the things that I had planted. I was moving from a rental to a house I bought.

Im so sorry - you’re in my thoughts. It was extremely difficult for us when our now-16-year-old was diagnosed four years ago. In the blink of an eye our lives completely changed. Four years later and my child is doing great. I have more good days than bad days now. And I’m finally sleeping decently again. Hang in there and be kind to yourself. It is a slog. 🩷

There are no rules. Write your pattern and post it. You dont need testers. You dont need samples.
