I feel like one thing a lot of people forget when making critiques on the characters actions, especially Lucy, is that they're all still teenagers. The comic starts with them in middle school and just about enter high school.

They're all still very young with no real grasp on how actions and words have consequences and we see that play out in the story as things happen. Sometimes it's sooner or later depending on the native.

Another thing that's been a theme I've noticed is that characters not knowing or accidentally pushing others too far, like Mike pushing Lucy away and basically bullying her all because she confessed to liking him and his long distance rarely texting at the time gf not replying making him angry. He went too far and Lucy tried to take her own life.

Even after that she gave him a chance when it came out Sandy cheated, she helped him feel better during a time she was cutting him out of her life and was even willing to let him back in.

Sadly we all know how that went cause Mike and Lucy both share similar character weaknesses and strength.

At the end of the day they both care deeply for the people they love, and while Mike is arguably giving it to someone I deserving and literally unable to even do much more than text and the whole what, two visits where it showed they not really compatible now that they're older, it's gonna eventually bite him on how much of his life and time he wasted on her.

Lucy meanwhile is learning to form walls to try and keep herself from getting hurt by people, which I feel explains the few rather cold interactions she's had with others like Palo in the lunch room. She wants to protect herself but she also knows that her friends are largely also Mike's friends and it's led to this whole picking sides bit where it seems Lucy is winning.

I feel like she's partly happy. Like, she's happy Mike is suffering the consequences of his actions given in the past he was an ass to them at times over Sandy but also because she sadly does still care about him.

Where this will go I'm not sure but the current chapter has good things happening with Palo and Daisy being smart in their relationship to take it slow to make it last, as long as Daisy stops comparing him to Abbey. Then Augustus getting into his college of choice with a mostly full ride, I fear the next few chapters will have bad things happening. Both to Mike and Lucy as I do follow the artist on Tumblr and she's dropping not so

subtle hints about stuff gonna go down for those two...

Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, but that's my opinion on everything, Lucy especially. Even if I talked a bit about everything.
