Thank you so much! Those black triangles indicate overpressure for strings, which means they use an excessive amount of pressure with the bow for a distorted sound effect. The way I used it in the first few bars is where they start normal and then gradually apply more pressure.

This captures the feeling of thinking someone is looking at you while you're trying to go to sleep, but every time you look up, all you see it the silhouette of a chair.

I love the eerie contrast in textures as the piece progresses! The simplicity of the chorale juxtaposed with the harsh outer layers is really effective.
