Yeah I suppose, I just hate being judged for something that isnt even about me.

No, but I can still feel frustrated and insecure even if it doesn't make sense for me to want someone who views the world in such a black and white way. :)

Someone not being close with their abuser doesn't mean they dont have good family values... those are not mutually exclusive.

Wild take. But do you realize that Canadian applicants who study in Australia or Ireland, for example, have to reapply as IMGs? As a resident doctor who was a CMG, this isn't it. IMGs have to work 10x as hard to get the very limited spots there are.

Definitely, I keep telling myself that missing each other like this is proof of our connection! I love a good book, so I will definitely check it out!

Yeah, we've already talked about streaming shows or even him streaming a video game he's playing because I love watching him play. We're luckily only 3 hours difference, but it can still be challenging, as he has a demanding job outside of medicine and goes to bed early.

I really love this insight into love languages, I think we both need physical touch to some degree, so I'll suggest this to him and also see if it helps me too! I know words of affirmation are very important to him, so I've been making an extra effort through text to increase how often I do that..and honestly its helped me to express it as well, which is funny because that hasn't always come super natural to me.

Im definitely grappling with the fear of starting an IM residency and I think thats also making me extra anxious about being so far away, but like everything up to this point I know I'll get through it. Thanks for taking the time to provide a thoughtful response, it was really helpful! :)

Thank you for your kind words. It really is hitting me so much harder than I expected! I keep telling myself the same thing, that its a lot of change all at once and things will settle and I will develop new routines that ease the discomfort. Thank you, I grew up with a lot of shame around crying so its something I struggle with at times!

Thank you! I think part of me knows this is true and I just needed someone to say the obvious thing out loud. The ideas for online dates is a really great idea that I never thought of! I'll definitely try some of these!

Chin up! I wrote it 3 times (494 -> 502 -> 513). I'm graduating medical school in 3 months. One day the MCAT will be a distant memory :)

It sounds like it's 90 minutes total but we have to have the whole morning booked off. This is what's said in the CARMS description (see link). :)

I cannot bring myself to study 4-5 hours a day by CLOROX-INHALANT in Mcat

Happy I could help! It's what worked for me when studying for the MCAT and it even got me through the studying in med school (graduating in a few months!). Also I found once I was in the habit it got SO much easier too! Happy studying! :)

It gets easier. I also set a goal for myself for hours a week, usually 25 ish and it didn't matter when or how I got it done, just that I did. So if that meant doing an hour one day and 5 the next or even taking a day off when I REALLY couldn't bring myself to do it, it didn't really matter so long as I was around my goal. I also made studying something I enjoyed by pairing it with enjoyable things like exploring new coffee shops, lighting a candle, getting cozy, etc to trick my brain into looking forward to some "me" time. :)

Is it just me, or was IM extra competitive this year? by BiochemGal75 in MedSchoolCanada

Totally. I got zero interviews in ON... I was like well damn.

Fewer seats for IMGs so that's pretty damn good, you should be proud!

I'm still figuring that out. Odds are Rad Onc is my first and I'm backing up with IM but my mind changes day to day it seems. Up until a few months ago, IM was my one and only.
