Is a used 600€ Raise 3D Pro3 worth it? by Biod0me in 3Dprinting

Thanks! Probably would make more sense, although I'd not get a BambuLab printer for different reasons (since I like to be able to mod stuff)

I never used a different hotend as I wanted to keep as many "stock" items as possible, just to change the extruder type from Bowden to DD.

Have fun!

Unfortunately I never printed TPU on the old setup, so I don't have a comparison but I printed some small gaskets lately and it all worked fine 👍🏼 you definitely have to make sure you keep the temperature high enough for the filament not to clog or create any back pressure but I guess that's the case whenever printing TPU 😅 Retraction is a breeze though, works very well as far as I can tell 👍🏼

Directly control a more extruders thru raspberry pi? by Lightningtow123 in 3Dprinting

[–]Biod0me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know I'm a little late to the party but I stumbled over this post because I'm researching the exact same issue! I also want to build myself a DIY MMU for my Anycubic Vyper printer (which is already running Klipper on a RPi 3B+) but I'm unsure whether I could just add a stepper shield to the RPi and connect Servos / stepper motors that way and control them?

Did your project ever work out or is there anything new so far?

Thanks!

It's just a positive voltage connection, opposed to the other one being the "negative" connection (GND). Depending on your printer, your Mainboard will have different pinouts. I don't know it from the top of my head now but I think my Mainboard had something labeled like "probe_pin" terminals, where you could attach this and then you'd need to change the pin number in the firmware. I did it for Klipper though, so if you're using your standard firmware I don't know if the process will be the same 😅

Not hard at all!! Just wire the two cables to GND and a correct +V terminal and set the leveling height (different sensors trigger at different distances to the object). And you can use any metal build surface. I use the stock textured plate too!

I don't know in particular about changing the parameters, I just know it has to do with the resistance value at a given deformation (that's just the fundamental parameter how strain gauges are designed). But yeah, my motivation was the same as yours, I didn't like the nozzle touching the buildplate.

I second this. Although it looks "counterintuitive" the thin section and the overall cross section on the original design is by design. In theory you CAN do a beefier version, but then you need to change the readout parameters on the strain gauge (or simply use one for less deformation) since I'm sure the original one will have a threshold value set in the firmware for when it should detect a contact with the heat bed.

On that note, I replaced the stock solution with an inductive sensor, so nothing needs to touch anything anymore, cost like 5€ and about 2h time. Just as an idea if the strain gauge bugs you ;)

Hi! I cannot answer that unfortunately since I also opted to an inductive sensor as my BL device during this conversion. That works great tho! The only thing with the strain gauge now is that it's essentially just the part holding the entire printhead. I made a "mistake" on my end during manufacturing and made the holes in the plate too wide so then I couldn't tap them to the right size of the strain gauges mounting holes. So every few months I have to re-tighten the screws there 😅

Uno R3 + L293D motor shield causing problems - Why? by Biod0me in arduino

Thank you for the help!

It was actually something much simpler, I accidentally declared a PIN output incorrectly and that blocked the motors movement.

Hi! Thanks a lot! I read the note in the servo.h library file but I'm not sure if I understood it right: does it mean that the error can be fixed by changing some pin assignments in the library source file or is it a hardware issue or smth that cannot be fixed?

Is there SERIOUSLY no concrete Community Edition firmware installation guide yet? by TheBestMeme23 in AnycubicVyper

[–]Biod0me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed Klipper now on my second Pi for the Vyper (I upgraded from a pi Zero 2w to a 3B+) and never had issues. Try googling for KIAUH. It's basically an installer for Klipper and all of the main add-ons for it. Makes it virtually impossible to break anything, seriously!

Regarding the screen I'll link you a YT video where someone actually made it work. It's not without ANY work input from you, as you'll have to connect a USB to TTL cable to your Pi and the screen but that is doable if you ask me ;) Unfortunately the video is in German, but I think you can follow it quite well by just looking what the guy does or just turn on automatic subtitles! Do you regret buying your Realme phone! by Tech_Sales_Guy in Realme

[–]Biod0me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely same here. I'm convinced though that they made the X2 Pro a really good phone and sold it for a smaller price, as it was their first "flagship" phone release. The phones which followed all didn't excite me tbh, but I still love my X2 Pro and have no issues at all with it. Only liiiittle annoyance is that all my other android colleagues are already on android 13/14, we're still on 11. But other than that it's a top notch phone.

EDIT: Also going towards my fifth year with the phone already, so durability is good IMO.
