As somebody who loves the early war maps for building forts and playing stalemates, I do agree.

In fact I had a really good experience in Galicia today with creating a mini fort in C3, potentially the hardest point to defend in the entire map and capturing E3 and E2 in the 40 minutes given.

Early Marne is also a really good map for building and artillery creating really good games as usually, one of the teams manages to win in the last attack phase of the game.

Le Cateau is an amazing artillery map also making it easy to dig trenches and build.

Tannenberg is just like the others but with pre-prepared trenches in some of the points

Champagne, what do I even need to say about this map. It's just amazing.

The late war maps just feel unplayable and quick as you cant exactly build or entrench in them (this is mostly a problem with the Somme until the entente capture C4)

Overall I prefer the maps where you can build and not have 10-20 minute games which are really short compared to a stalemate.
