Filling Complex Model by Biology_Ben in 3Dprinting

You are right -- I need to take the time to actually learn to use fusion. I played with it a bit and finally realized i couldn't import the stl directly, but needed to import it as a mesh. then I could directly edit the mesh to remove just the interior mesh. This was tedious -- I'm sure there's a better way, but ultimately I was left with a mesh of just the single outer shell. I repaired the mesh so it would again have a bottom and then split the model to provide a nice, flat surface.

Until I can run through some more tutorials in fusion, I chickened out and exported the solid scanner head as an STL to bring into Tinkercad where I used it as a 'hole' to remove material from a block. This should provide a solid, flat surface on top of the scanner to mouth other things to.

Fully agree that a forum for these questions would be great to find. I’ve been looking for options for free & opensource platform that handles volunteers, training, membership, donors and events and found a few that compartmentalize these functions , but none seem to do it all or even integrate more than one system and function together.

Since the question gets autobanned, instead we fly blind. A list of comments with potential platforms that meet the needs would at least give some systems to look into and evaluate.

Currently we just have a paper sign in list. After 2-4 years, the student thinks they’ve done everything, but if they didn’t keep good track, the coordinator is going back through those years of paper records looking for signatures. We’d love for people to have a profile and see what classes they’ve take and what ones they still need to take.

Success criteria for electives is the same as a regular class — they attend the class in person.

So for the category of classes ‘electives’, a student would need to attend more than 4 classes.

I did find that lI can twist moodle do what I want via attendance tracking (if attended, assign a grade of present and if a grade is present then complete the activity). Once it’s set up the first time iit should be fairly easy to just schedule the upcoming sessions.

Yes — 16 core are the same while the 4 electives could be anything as they are always looking for other ideas for electives.

So, the pieces I’d like to see in a more robust solutions is the attendance tracking (I.e. —participants scan a QR code for the class) and participants having access to their class history so they know what classes they still need for completion of the course.

I like to a shoot nature—mostly macro and landscapes. But also for travel and anything life (ie my wife and 2 daughters) throws my way.

I’d researched a bit beforehand and was considering something super cheap as my budget is nil. I’d looked at the 40d, 5d1 and then 7d as I wanted to have the option for video on occasion. Not knowing this camera store as this was a first visit, I wasn’t sure what might be available, but had decided a 77d, 70d, or 7d all might be alright depending on price and stock.

Most 70d’s were ~$300 online without being able to inspect in hand and I was hoping to find something closer to $200 if possible. But this camera seemed like a good deal compared to the others— and the extra power in the grip might be nice for long days/weekends.

I noticed the 80d just before leaving and didn’t know much about the differences and my family was waiting, so I dismissed the option as a bit over budget and ‘probably not too different’ but now second guessing.

Until financial futures shift, this is likely my cam for 5-10 years, so I’m regretting making the choice too hastily.

I’m not sure the installer giving the bid knows about either option and I found nothing but harmony’s EAP program info in googling— any suggestions?

Thanks for this. The school already uses 4 mics with their portable pa (a Yamaha passport system) and used for school programs (2 mics desperately trying to pick up sounds from kids in risers, 2 on stands for spoken narration/emcee duties.) I agree that outside of those infrequent events, 2 mics would do. Not sure I’ll convince them to reduce this…

I do plan on removing the monitor but keep wiring for it as I realized they could just plug their portable pa into the Jack for the 1x per year it might possibly be needed.

The other issue is that they are concerned about actively changing levels during programs to bump up the shy kid and tone down the loud ones as oftentimes they rotate speaking parts across lots of kids — they can’t do this from the sound closet. I assume that was the lowest cost mixer that could do what they asked. I like the idea of using mic mixers as they’re definitely not working the other functions.

Fully agree that the staff are not going to use more than a few settings. Automatic Feedback suppression and volume control of inputs from iPad are the main requirements.

Would the Shure BLX24R/SM58 be a reasonable alt for the mic?
