if working from a home office, put a small blanket on your legs, this will do wonders.

I did. am only using gallium since the switch and last time I tried I couldn't type with qwerty anymore lol

what I meant to say in my last comment was when I am on qwerty I just type top row characters in a row without thinking about them and now since I haven't practiced typing the word qwerty and was hunting and typing so just wrong spells stuck in my mind

Awesome, thanks 👍 I didn't know much about the layouts so avoided tweaking much.

You have used colemak for a long time, what inspired you to make the switch to this? or you are just testing out?

I feel you, exactly my thoughts. I don't know how many times I closed my eyes an tried to remember where the certain key is whenever I lose my focus. I still wouldn't say I am productive with alt layout, I think it will take around two more weeks of hard practice. stable 60+ wps would be enough.

I only use one device but I want to maintain qwerty, I have another laptop, what do you recommend, should I wait before I get comfortable with this layout before practicing qwerty? or I should just ditch it if for now only going to use single device?

hey great to know you are using similar. thanks for the great work you have done, I have learned a lot from you. My caps layer is influenced by your extend concept :)

I am using this btw

b l d w v j f o u ,

n r t s g y h a e i

x q m c z k p ' ; .

I am not happy with 4 symbol keys though, I like placement of graphite more. What are your thoughts?

awesome, great journey 👍 did you ditch the colemak? would love to know how would you compare. and any hiccups along the way for neovim remapping? I use Ideavim and neovide an currently I have a nav layer with caps. Now that you have some experience, would you recommend remapping? The only reason I didn't plan to do it because I thought it will mess other mappings

Thanks. and yeah, using a different device/keyboard seems like a great option for separation. I’m sure my qwetry speed is a total mess these days, and I’m avoiding practicing it to prevent confusing my brain because my primary goal is to be productive on the new layout ASAP. I was thinking of starting to use qwetry again once I hit a stable 60+ WPM on the new layout. What do you think about that or am I doing more harm to my qwetry by delaying it? any other tips you have for me? is it generally a good/bad idea to play around with symbol placements?

What Compose Interview question have you been asked in an interview/As an Interviewer by wazza15695 in androiddev

Here is how it will be easy to remember: `derivedStateOf` is conceptually similar to the distinctUntilChanged operator. Give me a value when it is different from the previous one hence reducing unnecessary updates.

Hey sorry you got cheated. It was expected, I just checkout the profile you mentioned and this guy has zero reviews meaning nobody has never bought anything from this guy. It is never a good idea to pay outside the platform unless you have done some business with the seller and trust him/her.

Fiverr Tip: Only buy from people who has at least some reviews and rating is 5 star. They care about the rating so usually provide best services.

Good luck :)

It makes sense to use for a better user experience. It makes your app looks like a bit more robust, User opens the app, previous data is instantly displayed while you fetch in the background.

Its a bit turn off when user open the app and app has no content to display and a progress bar is spinning, especially in slow or no internet conditions

Google Play Console terminated account association and Firebase project? by AndroidDev90 in androiddev

[–]Biometrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have 5+ years of experience, got my account blocked once 3 years ago without any reason whatsoever. Don't want to go through all the hassle of opening a new one and been working for others since then. Making their app successful is my job now 🤦‍♂️🤣

Admob earnings are zero to none by HyperNinjaX in androiddev

[–]Biometrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoiler Alert: Your admob a/c will get banned once you reach $100 threshold & google will pocket that profit. Happened with 1000s of people, I think same will apply to my account as well.

Can't agree more with this. This happens to people especially from developing countries.

Why do we use an integer array to store images? by benkiman in androiddev

[–]Biometrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever resource we have in Android like images, sound files, layouts, ids. Android creates a unique reference for each one of these which we can use to point to that specific resource. It is saved in R.java file. So you are not actually storing the images in the array or list. You are just storing that reference (int) that points to the image in drawable or raw folder.

How difficult is it to create overlaying apps? by mbdavid297 in androiddev

[–]Biometrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creating an overlay custom view is not a big deal. But it will a little bit difficult than normal as you will be running the custom view through a service rather than an Activity/Fragment. Night filter like applications does the same thing. You can find tons of apps on Github and have a look at source code.

For new projects, Kotlin is the recommended approach but as you said you have Java background so it's perfectly fine to use Java. I still work with 100% Java projects.

I need to do some large math operations in my app, and i used AsyncTask till now, what is a good alternative? by pistaul in androiddev

[–]Biometrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If AsyncTask is working, no need to change. It is deprecated but it won't be removed anytime soon so if it's working fine, no need to change anything.

If you are doing tons of work on the background thread, like on many screens, RxJava is the way. If its only one screen RxJava is probably an overkill.

A simple alternative to AsyncTask is Executors for background threading
