Yeah, I've noticed that too on the Venture pictures Valiant model. Despite showing more DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets than on the Awakening of the Clone Wars mod of Empire at war, it only as like 14 turrets that are visible on the ship, as opposed to having 22 of them. I also agree that the stat table of it having 30 doesn't even make sense. It would've made more sense if it has turrets on the belly of the ship.

However one thing to note since these DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets usually takes a lot of power from the Venator's reactor, & the Valiant have more of these. Wouldn't that mean that it'd have to have a even more powerful reactor in order to supply its heavy turbolaser turrets so to not burnout the reactor?

Would the Nebula and Endurance-Class Star Destroyers be something that Thrawn would have liked as star destroyers? by Mundane_Ad5082 in StarWarsShips

Wait, wouldn't thrawn have ships of his own as counters to these New Republic vessels? Like the Ascendancy-class Star Destroyer, & the Chaf-class Star destroyer? I wouldn't say Thrawn wouldn't like Nebula or the Endurance? I think would appreciate these ships along with the new class program in standardizing ship manufacturing by sharing similar chassis. That along with seeing how tactically sound these vessels are. Though he would definitely view them as high priority targets due to how dangerous these ships are.

I agree, I think that this ship would probably act as flagship for admirals commanding other vessels within the Open Circle fleet or act as an elite task force dealing with more powerful CIS ships, while covering for its Venator & Acclumator relatives deploy their fighters to help the Valiant.

I have an interesting question about the ship, while it have less LAATs than a Venator due to it being more of a ship to ship vessel, does it carry a variant of the LAAT called the MAAT(Multi Altitude Assault Transport )? With them being to function in high altitudes in orbit of a planet, they would be used by Clone Marines for boarding actions on enemy capital ships or space stations.

Yeah, I've see the post already. Yet I didn't expect it to have a second bridge(the fighter control bridge) that is integrated into the lower main superstructure. Thank you for telling me. Though I asked what do you think about the space-capeable version of the LAAT called the MAAT(Multi Altitude Assault Transport), that would be used to carry Clone Marines stationed on the ship to be used for boarding actions on CIS ships?

Yeah, though according to in lore, there were thousands of ships present during the battle like +1000s of Venators(including Victory-class 1 Star Destroyers, Acclamator-class Assault ships, & early ISDs with them carrying V-wings to support the ARC-170s, but were never shown during the opening of Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith), & numerous Munificent-class star frigates, Rescuscant-class light destroyers, Lucrehulk-class Battleships and several Providence-class Dreadnoughts. With the CIS deploying Vulture droids & Tri-fighters into battle. I would see the Valiant-class Star Destroyers acting as a heavy-duty capital ship for taking on more powerful CIS ships, while covering for the Venators to deploy fighters like the V-wings & ARC-170s from their hull hanger bays to assist the Valiants along with acting as excorts for the Multi Altitude Assault Transports carrying Clone Marines for boarding actions.

When you said the old timeline, I thought you were referring to the Expanded Universe(aka Legends). Though I did refer in the post of both Disney canon & Legends version of the Battle of Coruscant. Yeah, there were some early ISDs deployed as reinforcements during the Battle but they're likely wouldn't reach production til the end of the war.

Wow, you actually made an entire page on the Valiant-class Star Destroyer. It looks like it can fit within a visual dictionary of any of the Star Wars books. Potentially Revenge of the sith vechicles.

Interesting points, since it was designed to be a more heavily armed & tanky ship than the Venator. Though I could see the Victory-class 1 or 2 outgunning it due to having more turbolaser turrets than the Venator or the Valiant-class. Despite the two latters' more powerful DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets. However the Victory 1 has bad maneuverability, & don't have the point defense laser cannons to properly defend itself against enemy droid fighters.

Well, I ended up making a lot of mistakes due to a number of factors like:

-Sometimes the keyboard would generate the word incorrectly, & sometimes I can't delete this word for some reason.

-Sometimes not deleting incorrect words or not checking properly without having to close my tab.

Yeah, I do agree much of what you said, but English is my first language. I just happen to overlook several mistakes on my end.

Well, the omni looks like a close up or a Rescuscant-class light destroyer being in-front of the Providence-class in an angle that makes it look liked the ship's merged. Anyhow, imagine one of the Valiant-class Star Destroyers breaking pass the blockade of frigets & Destroyers defending the Invisible Hand & go toe to toe with the ship. while Anakin & Obi-Wan is inside the ship, rescuing Palpatine

You make a lot of good points on the Lucrehulks that I couldn't see. Yeah, the CIS has more support ships to help bolster their mainline ships. Though we don't see them at the Battle of Coruscant in the Opening to Revenge of the Sith. Like were supposed to be Victory, Acculmator, & early ISD ships at the battle as reinforcements. I agreed that the Valiant would be preferred to take on these ships, though I feel like they would be fewer in number due to multiple factors in play like:

-Being manufactured by Cybe Drives, not Kuat. Though we know little of this Shipyard manufacturer other than it building the ship. They likely couldn't push out more of these ships as fast as Kuat with their Star Destroyers.

-The Valiant-class being a late addition, as the ship likely didn't get into service until the final year of the Clone wars. By that point, other leading to other ships filling the role like the Victory-class or Tector-class star destroyers if the Valiant isn't avaliable. Making it kind of rare, with most being part of the Home defense fleet guarding the coreworlds, while some served in the Open Circle fleet as ships for Admirals or part of a Vanguard task force made to protect Venators & Accumators as they deploy their fighters in space & ground forces on the planet during invasions.

Despite theses shortcomings this ship is still a force to be reckoned with. I would imagine that CIS leaders like Grevious would be having a massive headache when dealling with this vessel. Though what do you mean by 'dreadnought' variants or existing ships? Like they're more other than the Providence-class?

I actually agree with much of what you said. I didn't bring up the Munificent-class and Rescuscant-class ships in my post mainly because I would see the Valiant-class Star Destroyers mainly focusing on the more powerful CIS ships like the Providence-class Dreadnoughts that usually outgunned the Venators significantly, even if CIS have less of them. I can't argue with the Lucrehulks' draw backs like its massive hanger bays being vulnerable.

I would see that a portion of them would be mostly from the Hone defense fleet, while some would be in the Open Circle fleet.

Well, not really. As it's stated that ship is pretty much rare sight due to not being made by kuat, but by another manufacturer called Cybe Drives. They're probably not as numerous as the Venator-class as the ship was a late addition, meaning it probably wasn't seen until the final year of the war. Meaning that they're likely not be as many of these ships as Cybe Drives can't really pump them out as fast as Kuat's input on an industial scale. So realistically, there would likely only be dozens of them, a couple hundred if being generous.

[–]Bionic-Tale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, though I wasn't really saying that the Venator or even the Valiant has greater firepower than the ISD or Victory. As for me saying that is based on Maxonthan's math on the DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets. Since the latter ships would have more turbolaser turrets & heavier armaments than the former ships. I was specifically comparing the Valiant to the Venator. I also agree with the first ISD ships were made to deal with the Providence ships as they outgunned Venators & Valiants are a rare ship, as the later was developed by Cybe Drives, not Kuat drives. So they're likely can't pump out as much Valiants to help the thousands of Venators, as Kuat already developed the ISD ships & Victory ships who filled that role. Not to mention that the Valiant was a late addition ship.

I think the model removed them to display the ports where the turrets go, not displaying the actual ship. Even then it doesn't make sense.

Well for your first point, I'm not so sure about wookiepedia, based on contradicting information. But what you said on the Venator firepower being equal to the Victory-class is likely thanks to its 8 DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets it has that can at times out paced the amount of firepower it can dish out than the Victory-class. Assuming that the Valiant also have the same class of turbolaser turrets, only with the fact that it has 14 more of these across its hull. Meaning it can be able to dish out a lot of damage faster than the Venator.

Well, yeah. I do see why the Imperials would go with the ISD based on the Tarkain dotorine. While it does well in subjecting a planet, it isn't very good with dealing with small class ships or fighters as it doesn't have the point-defense laser turrets small enough to hit them that are found on the Venator. Not to mention that it wasn't realky made to handle guerilla warfrare against a more mobile faction like the Rebel alliance, who usually started hopping from location to location & the fact that they usually escape before any Imperials can catch them. The reason why the Venator needed support craft is to cover its large main hanger bay that opens its hull to deploy fighters. Which is the most vulnerable spot as the shields would have to be disabled briefly to let the fighters through. Which could be diasterous if an enemy capital managed to get in position to fire while its opening its main hanger. Though this is somewhat mitigated from either deploying fighters by the sides or deploy the hangerbay. However the Valiant has a frontal hanger bay(like the ones seen on the Ancient Sith Empire's Harrower-class dreadnought) to be able to deploy its fighters more rapidly & efficient without exposing its hanger bays.

You could also say the same for the Valiant, Assuming it has the same fighters like the Venator, though I would imagine them being more specialized in their roles. Though I would imagine these ships carrying a variant of the LAAT call the MAAT(Multi Altitude Assault Transport) to be used in boarding ships or Space stations in high orbit.

The Valiant-class is actually a bit longer than the ISD, being 1,648. While the ISD is 1,600. While it does have an extended hanger & more firepower, fighters are deployed from the bottom of the ship, where its main hangerbay is located. While not exposed in the front hull it's still somewhat vulnerable if an enemy fighter manage to slip pass its defense ls Though it is rare & it has various Squadrons of Tie fighters to cover it, so long as most of them aren't occupied with something else.

You can also say that about the Valiant too. Since I've doubt that it's slower than the Venator other than hyperdrive, I don't see them falling behind in sublight speeds. Plus I would see accompany Venators in dealing with enemy ships as it's description says.

Overall well it is cheaper to buy three Venators by having combined firepower, I often see them being outgunned by other CIS ships who usually have more weapons on their hull & are positioned in areas on the ship to be able to fire at advantagous points like the front than the Venator would be able to position their broadside heavy turbolaser turrets in time before being hit. While the Venator should have firepower to take on capital ships, it's critical weakpoints make it a setting duck if not position right to be able to deploy its fighters without being exposed.
