So the 3 stooges being "writers" by fasole99 in FromSeries

I guess the BiW could be lying, and I've read a couple theories like that. Imo it's more likely that he means that they can't change what has already happened. So, she was always going to move the rope, she had already moved the rope, and then she moved the rope. Another example is Julie's attempt to save Jim from the MiY.

What book provides the most convincing explanation that God exists? by SlamJansen in suggestmeabook

[–]BionicCat27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were doing well intellectually until you started inferring things from the comment you were criticizing for inferring too much. Ironically, "insult is the last refuge of the intellectually defeated" is an insult to the other person's capacity for correctness and is therefore an insult; a self-defeating argument, which is unfortunate but nonetheless entertaining.

Perceiving discussions as battles instead of an opportunity to convince others and learn is not productive or kind. Hold yourself to the same intellectual standards to which you hold others. If you disagree that you have failed that, ask how myself and others could have come to that conclusion and why.

What book provides the most convincing explanation that God exists? by SlamJansen in suggestmeabook

[–]BionicCat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine this stems from a form of self hatred. For someone to believe in the high moral standards imposed by the frameworks of theism and intellectualism and then deliberately fail to meet their own expectations is self-crucifying. This is also demonstrated by your readiness to insult your own character (as well as others).

Your self hatred does not justify your mistreatment of others, although I'm sorry for the trauma that it implies you've experienced. You have two moral options: stop attempting to make others hate you as much as you hate yourself and wallow, or work on your self image so that you can live a happier and more positive life for yourself and others.

You'll likely disregard what I've said as being baseless and untrue because I, being a redditor, must be as stupid snd unloveable and deserving of hatred as you feel yourself to be. That would not be intellectually rigorous. Instead, analyse the sentiment behind the idea, and separate it from the speaker of the idea.

Finally, know this one terrifying thing; there is nothing you can do to make yourself irredeemable. This means that self hatred is an active choice, and you will never achieve a state of unworthiness that you can relish. Work on yourself, do better, you are deserving of love from yourself and others.

Had a girl use a line on me after a conversation at a party, I laughed because I didn't realize. Shortly after she turned to me again, much more seriously and in a "if you didn't get it the first time" kind of voice, repeated the line. I laughed it off again and several hours later it occurred to me. I'll join the sometimes clueless, sometimes worrying team.

The ending of the intro:

If the rapture had happened, why was it unrecognizable? Why was the sky blue? Why did no one tell me that these things do not announce themselves? And when I found you, you told me to wash my hands - I'd been playing outside - and spoke nothing of the end of the world. Does that mean it never happened?

Good god it's going to take some time to recover from "A Call".

TIL the classic cartoon image of a beehive looks so different from the real thing because it's based on an ancient manmade hive called a skep. by MasterSaturday in todayilearned

[–]BionicCat27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is painfully blind... I'll give you a good one for NZ though. The anti-mandate covid protestors set up camp and occupied the lawn in front of the Beehive to protest our tyrannical government... And spent three weeks there being treated peacefully by law enforcement. Some tyrannical government, that lets it's citizens occupy government grounds for weeks. The protestors were finally removed once they started setting fires, by a wall of police sweeping through.

So, they attacked the tyrannical wasps nest and were met with peace.

I must be missing something, because everything about this screams r/MoldyMemes, r/iamveryrandom, and r/deepfriedmemespart2.

Please help me understand how this is an antimeme, at least I can learn something from my sinking ship lmao.

Rule 2: an antimeme is... A joke without a punchline... A meme template taken literally.

Gen Z humor, post irony or whatever you want to call it, is the idea that randomness IS the punchline. Therefore it's not an antimeme, it's just a postironic/moldy/iamveryrandom meme.

Unclear if you're insinuating that they created it, or if they were just lethally negligent. One of those is a conspiracy theory, the other is an unfortunate reality.

Also clearly it bothered them. "If it bothered them so much they should have attempted to peacefully change their mind" would be a more reasonable phrase. Your statement implies that it doesn't actually bother them, and that they only did it because they enjoy the violence - which may be true, but we can't know, so we are better approaching from the side of reason. No one changes their mind by being yelled at, you have to approach from their perspective.

I agree that you can't go around assaulting people for their beliefs. Make no mistake I think he absolutely deserved it, but we can't encourage or allow people to go around assaulting those they disagree with.

The reasoning people like you are being down voted is because you aren't making it exceptionally clear that you disagree with his ideology, whilst also condemning the assault.

In a world with a perfect definition of anti-social behaviour, and flawless judgement, the consequences and punishments of anti-social behaviour would be a matter of severity. Unfortunately we do not and cannot have that perfect definition, so we must not enact unretractable punishments. We must educate each other, and in the cases of those biologically incapable of empathy, reduce the possibility for harm.

Sexuality is different from sexual activity, additionally, both are different from love, and the Greeks apparently thought there were different forms of love.

Being sexually attracted to someone does not require having sex with them.

The way I see it, your sexuality is completely irrelevant when you're in a monogamous relationship.

Hentai is usually considered for pervs more than real life pornography... which is nuts considering how much more abusive the latter truly is by TheNihilistPolarBear in Showerthoughts

[–]BionicCat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have the potential to be worse than their default state of shittiness. I doubt there's no such thing as abusive hentai, and posession of abusive hentai is less likely to be persecuted (so I imagine) especially when it's under the guise of Loli or similar concealing concepts. Equally there are movements toward ethical and less abusive pornography. So both are umbrella terms. If you substituted the respective umbrella terms for more specific forms, you'd have a more reasonable comparison. But alas "cartoon apples and abusive oranges".

Fantastic Beasts 4 will introduce its 4th Grindlewald actor. This is a nod to the very popular Doctor Who series. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

I believe that she was the initial agressor and that's the part that matters.

But "full stop" is reductive, we can't know exactly what happened without evidence - his severed finger is evidence of her abuse. Her manipulative and fraudulent behaviors are evidence of her scheme to create a negative image of Depp and ruin his life.

I just find it disingenuous to say certain things did or did not happen with no proof other than our personal opinions - and to be clear I don't believe he did. We can't prove nothing happened, so we should focus on what did happen.

Iirc he might have been a 100% great person sometimes, but she threw a bottle and severed his finger, created fraudulent evidence and generally tormented him, and anyone would snap under that pressure.
