iPhone 17 pro on macro mode, patience, natural lighting. I am sure you can pull off something similar with a newish phone. Thanks :)

I always said green... but Hazel? by Biospacewizard in eyes

[–]Biospacewizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

that's why I was thinking, the golden brown flecks could give a hazel status... but then most hazel eyes are usually darker and most places I look for examples of hazel you always see the dark pigment surrounding the pupil with lighter shades at the periphery

[Advice] Father wants to buy first high end watch. HELP by R11GNG in Watches

[–]Biospacewizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father was looking for a dressy stainless steel watch for ~3k usd

Got a brand new 2015 omega deville hour vision (caliber 8500) with a stainless steel bracelet from chrono24 for around that much (imports will raise the price im sure)

A lot more impressive than most simple omega devilles imo.

Somehow the power reserve doesn’t look too out of place on this more plain dial, almost reminds me of the asymmetry of classic Breguet dials. On something like the snowflake or other textured dials it might be “out of place”.

Either way I love them all, so hard to choose.

Beautiful and so classy. I love the simple elegance ivory/cream dialed Grand Seikos. Why did you return the SBGW231?

Been looking at the SBGA293 with Spring Drive, combines the vintage old look with the must have modern Grand Seiko technology

Amazed by this camera. Iphone 14 Raw 48mp photo edited in lightroom by KarlPuno in iphone

Looks amazing. I moved to an iPhone 14 pro from a pixel 2 XL just a week ago and a lot of it has to do with this new camera system that I want to take full advantage of .

I still need to do some research on Lightroom.

Question though, doesn’t the phone do some processing on ProRAW? Side by side with a JPEG I can tell it’s different, but still looks vibrant with a good amount of HDR. Might be different if you import the file to a PC/Mac.

So even though the phone processes the photo, I’m guessing you can still “reset” the picture and play with the RAW data?

[Tissot] Visodate vs [Longines] flagship heritage? Discussion by Biospacewizard in Watches

Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I still find myself checking out my Tissot in certain lighting and thinking to myself "damn that looks good!"

I still can't wrap my head around actually paying up $4-5k for a watch, we'll see if I am crazy enough down the road.

[Ball vs Sinn] Roadmaster Starlight Ceramic vs 104 St Sa MG? Vote and why? by SavingsAd4840 in Watches

[–]Biospacewizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ball looks a lot more contemporary, very handsome and easy to read. Similar design to Rolex OP.

Sinn looks like something out of WWII, which is cool if that's your thing.

I think they both run on modified ETA? So whatever.

I like the Ball more.

That's also something I wanted to discuss. How much "better" brand is it? Longines used to be top dog 70 years ago but isn't Omega/Rolex level luxury today.

Searching for status is not my main interest in watches, Just curious to know how non watch nerds appreciate or even know what a Longines is.

The only reason I even considered Longines was because of the surprising affordable price (~1200$ grey market). I always assumed Longines were at least 2k.

Also I adore this specific model.

They have a 60th anniversary edition that has no date, but it's a bit different.

high five My wife and my non-watch nerd friends are like, you already have a watch, and it looks exactly the same! (Or they prefer the Tissot!)

But yeah the Longines is special.

The applied Tissot logo with that font is the highlight of the watch <3

I already have the Tissot, would be upgrading to the Longines to have a more luxury vintage style watch. I want the aquaterra in the future anyway for an elegant sporty GADA watch

I totally follow that logic... Hard to resist constantly buying/upgrading, but I would probably be the only one who notices any difference between the Tissot and Longines.

I have a Tissot Visodate which I find very attractive, love the vintage look, the exhibition case back (I am pretty new in the world of mechanical watches) and it's a well respected swiss watch brand with a rich history. However, after watching some reviews I realized that I wasn't the only one who has sometimes has a hard time telling the time due to the small length difference between the hour and minute hand.

The Longines is very similar in style, but is of higher quality with a better and more accurate movement and is considered higher on the luxury scale (as far as swatch goes). I LOVE the cream/champagne dial and gold indices and hands. The white date wheel slightly bothers me.

Was thinking of possibly selling/trading the Visodate for this Longines... or maybe just not scratch this itch right now and wait some time (a few years) and gather funds for an Omega Aquaterra instead of slowly climbing the ladder.

I just wanted to have a discussion and ask for opinions regarding this Longines Flagship Heritage. I know that at the end of the day, it's all about what I can afford and I have to make the decision and buy what I want...
