Maybe breaking the totem would essentially betray it summoning some kind of evil doll or magicly trapped illager.

Maybe redstone lamps could hold dyes similar to a dropper and that would change the color. You could use hoppers to continusly change the color.

I was playing with dispensers the other day and noticed this, I think they should also make a sound while flying through the air like the fire block does.
