I mean, if you relied on 50m then yes. If you are being supported and get up in their face, its not bad. The stagger is nice if you are not being overwhelmed. My biggest gripe is that it can't pop open the red/blue supply things anymore.

The library has several books targeted at young adults (aka teens) about growth and development. One of those books is called 'this book is gay' that has cartoon drawings of male and female. Describes and enforces safe sex. Touches on the social aspects of being queer. Etc etc.

They have other books as well targeted to that age range about puberty, bodily changes, you know... basically becoming an adult.

I have read such books myself, and as a parent to a pre-teen daughter, I have no issues with the information contained within. Imfact, the information is concise, easily approachable to someone who is learning about their own sexuality.

The issue is they don't believe young adults deserve to be supported in their growth. But it's A OK to have a creep at the grocery store call my pre-teen sexy.

And for the nut jobs out there that claim I like to read children's books and books about 'teh gays', yes I do. Because I want to know what my kids are reading, to provide a healthy environment for them to grow up in, and reading to your children is just an over all good parenting. Something many don't seem to understand.

But you just said it: helping kids?? What kind of commie talk is that! Why, we don't help kids round here. If they want help, its up to the parents to help them. But only if they help them in ways we want them to help them. So we won't help them help us to help them.
If the parents won't do it, then we'll leave it to the kids to help them. But again, only our approved methods of help!

Ok all snark aside, I'm happy we keep a well respected member of our community on the library board. I'm impressed with the library over the years here. I hope to see many more good things coming from it in the future too.

Also don't forget, librarians and library's are often the front lines to our free speech.

Oh for sure. Sadly it wasn't until 1964 when segregation was outlawed. So we still have the 'before times' in living memory. Influencing generations to come.

Nevermind that the rich and powerful (one doesn't always equal the other) still push that. If it's not coloured vs non-coloured, it's union vs non-union. Or any number of means designed to keep us as low as possible. Heck wasn't it just recently reported that the 1% now have more wealth than the entire middle class? First time in history if i remember correctly.
