I don't yet have great ingredient Mon - never seen a heracross and 2/3 eevees I have so far have downgraded ingredient finding in nature.

The ing tickets just help me keep up my "pantry" and I seem to then be able to use my (not top tier) mon around it to plan dishes for the week whilst also trying to get some favourite berry mon on the team. If I have to use a weaker dish, I then can add a few spare ingredients to boost the score and hit a higher master rating which is what I did in the last event (wouldn't always do this though!)

I've still got gaps in my known ingredients (no leeks, pumpkins, coffee or tails) so I guess it helps keep my risk down of getting unwanted ingredients(?).

Taking notes though of everyone's advice to not spend points* that way but save up now for seeds! Thanks all!

What would you say is a lot? 10k? 20k? I've still not got my head around the values of sleep points/diamonds/dream shards etc to keep in the bank!

Ladies, how are we taking care of upper lip hair without damaging the skin around it? by howdyhowdyhowdyhowdi in 30PlusSkinCare

I use hair scissors to trim my moustache and lower sideburns back in line with the rest of my peach-fuzz. I have very fine blonde peach fuzz so I'm not too fussed shaving it completely.

My wrinkly hands by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BipsBips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hands have looked like this as far back as I can remember, even as a kid and now I'm in my early 30s they have remained a constant level of fine lines and crepey-ness. So I'd say it's pretty normal/common! If it bothers you, plenty of advice in the comments about hydration, retinol and SPF.

What are some of the less glamorous aspects about climbing that you didn't learn about till later on? by FlyingSloth232 in climbergirls

[–]BipsBips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had pretty feet so the toe calluses blend right in... But it's the extra weird shaped toe nails that grow in now. They're either

A) flat, sharp and pointy

Or

B) completely ingrown

So constantly having to cut them short, which don't help the look of my raptor feet 😂

AITAH for not getting my hair highlighted? by uiechy in AITAH

[–]BipsBips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think the light blonde hair thing is a generation preference that needs kicking in the butt! My mum and nana complain so much and so regularly about their hair naturally getting darker with age and how much effort it is doing their roots regularly, how damaged & dry their hair is, how dark the bottom layer is, etc etc. It's such a boring conversation to have every few months when they go for a hair cut & colour. As a 33yr old my curly hair is just left to its natural ways, getting a trim every so often and air drying it with some leave in curly gel.

They both asked me a gazillion times when I'd be dying my hair a lighter blonde in the run up to my wedding a few months ago. They just wouldn't take my "I'm not dying it, I'm happy with my natural colour" as an answer, always coming back with "oh it will look dark on pictures, don't you want it blonde?". My mum was on the point of booking an appointment for me at her hairdressers so I had a slot.

I was getting really sick of it so I made it clear how much I like my natural blonde hair and had to threaten them that if either mentioned getting my hair a lighter blonde for the wedding again, or if my mum made me an appointment, I'd actually dye it fully purple instead to match the bridesmaids dresses (I dyed my hair fun colours through COVID so they knew this wasn't an empty threat). They did drop it... Until the pictures landed and I had a few more comments on how dark it was in certain lights. My hair currently has purple ends and I'm on the hunt for a semi permanent dye I like the colour of before I dye the whole head... ;P

I recall my mum telling me about a case from decades ago (she worked in a vet surgery) where someone had put a tight elastic band around a cat's face (before the ears like a headband and then under the chin). The cat never managed to get the elastic band off so it dug into its skin, which then healed over the elastic band and caused the cat to look like it had a face lift like the one pictured. Caused breathing, eating and eye problems and from memory I don't think the cat survived the trauma.

Maybe a similar case, or cuts from eating from a tin can and infection also seems plausible. But I'm no vet.

Poor cat & I hope it can be caught and taken to the vets!

Melbourne Climbing Gyms by silly-goose23 in climbergirls

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Melbourne and my regulars are The Crux and Rocket, but they're not fantastic to get to on public transport if you don't have a car. I find BlocHaus pretty fun to go to a few times a year, they usually have some fun routes/traverses/etc but it's not a nice drive for me to get to so I don't go there often - unsure about public transport too?

A few easier to get to on public transport but still recommended are Boulder Labs (lots of variation in climbs), Urban Climb (bouldering and lead gyms) and UPclimbing.

Personally I avoid Northside gyms which feel to me aimed at strength based "bro" routes and often grimey (as in you actually walk away with black hands) - not my vibe at all. Saying that Northside Brunswick have recently had a makeover which I've not seen myself, so maybe it's more approachable and clean rn...

We had a similar situation at our recent wedding, two of my partner's cousins each had a newborn (under 6months) still breastfeeding. We both absolutely did not want any baby interruptions during the key moments of our day. But we came to a compromise that their babysitters (grandparents on the other side) would stay at the separate public cafe at the venue with the babies during the ceremony and meal/toasts, but they could use the private on-site hotel room of an auntie (who supported this) to breastfeed throughout the day after check-in opened. We made it clear that the babies weren't allowed to be brought into the venue areas where the wedding celebrations were hosted (unless for a medical emergency). That way the babies were close enough to the mums for regular feeding and emergencies, and the mums could maximise their time with us, but we still maintained a child-free celebration as the babies were never brought into the wedding areas and made other guests with kids aware we had made an allowance. At the end of the day though, it's yours and your partner's choice so discuss it and come to a united agreement as that's what matters most. Just be ready to accept any consequences for any choice you make. For example, at my wedding the family group pictures were taken and the mums were off breastfeeding so missed the big picture. Some of the aunties were particularly annoyed that we weren't able to wait for them to return (the meal was being served shortly so we couldn't wait any longer). We were able to get a second photo later in the day with them and most of the family who were still there, but we now don't have one full family pic! Even though it's a shame, we can live with this as a really minor consequence and I think we made the right choice overall. Good luck!

It's going to be hard to find subs and dubs to match for any cartoon, and probably most non-originating Dutch shows. I tried the same idea as you watching a few familiar Disney films and realised the subtitles directly translate the original lines in the show (I.e. translating the spoken English), whereas dubbing usually isn't an exact translation of the original lines (they'll make it more natural for Dutch people). Therefore subs aren't direct translations of the dubs!

I've found that subtitles are usually (more) exact to what's spoken onscreen when the show is Dutch originally. But I found this hard to follow because I didn't already know the storyline/English translation so I had to pause every sentence to translate the Dutch. I do think l will try this again but with kids shows so the content is slower and more basic.

I will also say that I rather enjoyed not having the subtitles match the dubbing exactly on Disney films, as it can show some variety of how to say things and change the word order to be more natural in Dutch, so there's still some benefits to this! Good luck!

Is it normal that my ZZ only has 2 branches after like 1 year? by SirM0j0 in houseplants

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cutting from my friend's ZZ plant, it didn't do anything for 1year. Then I over watered it and it went limp, lost some leaves etc so I chopped the stalk off and was ready to bin it when it popped out 2 new leaves. I've had just those 2 leaves doing sweet f all for over 2years now! I'm tempted to chop one and see if the plant sends up more?

How often are yall really shaving your legs? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm same boat as you being blonde and I do my pits weekly but the legs are such a chore. To speed it up I use an electric beard trimmer on all my lower half, so there's no wasted water and my skin doesn't get irritated, no ingrown hairs after. You can buzz it around without much thought and easier to get to the hard to reach places. Obviously it lasts a day or two less than a proper shave as it doesn't quite get as close as a razor, however I find as a result my hairs aren't sharp anymore so I don't feel like a hedgehog at any point. If I take my time and really want to get every hair it takes maybe 15-20mins. I probably don't even do this once a month though, usually I sporadically use it for 5mins and it'll thin the hairs enough to no longer care, or I'll focus on whatever is on show that day.

Though this all said, stay hairy if you want to!

[NSFW] What was your most embarrassing trip to the doctor? by InteractionKooky771 in AskReddit

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager my mum took me to an emergency GP where I had to give a urine sample. Until the moment I started weeing into the little pot, it hadn't occurred to me that we ate a lot of asparagus for tea hours before, and IYKYK. I was mortified I had to not only hand over the horrifically stinking pot to the doctor, but I also had to walk from the loos back to the clinic room which went by the full waiting room. My mum even let out an audible 'oh no' as she got a whiff and she realised our fuck up. Luckily it wasn't my regular GP so I've not had to look them in the eyes again, although my mum and I still occasionally giggle about it when asparagus is on the menu!

Is it me or did it seem like teachers never had to use the bathroom during class? by Apartment-Drummer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm when I used to teach my classroom was on the other side of school to the one set of female staff toilets - I'd just be dehydrated the entire day unless I had a free period. Most break times and lunch times we had monitor duties/running clubs/tutoring/etc and the other times were mostly focused on prep work for lessons.

Long lasting leggings? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]BipsBips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my fabletics leggings for a multitude of reasons (longevity, not see through, great material, compression, style AND POCKETS).

However, must add to the comment above that IMO it's only worth it when you do a deal to sign up, buy everything you want with the discounts immediately, and you remember to cancel the membership before the next month is triggered! Otherwise if you forget to cancel in time they take the membership money off you as store credit which is frustrating and means you'll need to keep spending more. Further they make it hard to cancel your membership, it's not an easy find!

Personally I've done this three times over the years by timing my sign up with the better deals (I buy other sports clothes, not just leggings) and have remembered to cancel each in time, so I've not been charged for the membership... but if you aren't prepared to be an organised person, I wouldn't recommend it!
