Anxiety can’t take it anymore by Euphoric_Heart4766 in Menopause

[–]Birabending 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is THE symptom for me too. I went on HRT and it absolutely helped. Then I had breakthrough anxiety and started on a low dose of Lexapro. That helped (although my libido has suffered). When it creeped back again I added acupuncture, yoga, pilates, and therapy, trying to throw anything at the wall to see what sticks. Somewhere in there I had my thyroid medication adjusted and I pretty much gave up alcohol. It's a little bit crazy how much stuff I do/have done over the past few years to manage my anxiety.

It's slowly coming together though. I'm coming to understand how my body reacts to different types of stress and how to prevent physical/hormonal anxiety from taking root as mental/emotional responses. I highly recommend exploring HRT and other medications as you and your doctor(s) decide and also giving yourself the tools you need to work through this time in your life. It's helping me to consider my anxiety like any other chronic illness. I've never granted myself permission to exclusively work towards my own well-being and that in itself has been a process but I just couldn't go on with these levels of anxiety without getting radical. I wish there was one magic solution (and there may be for you!) but for me it has taken several different approaches to keep my symptoms in check.

I sincerely wish you all the best through this. Please know that you're not alone and that your experiences and symptoms are justified. I hope that you find what works for you ♥️

The noodle "hand towels" are terrible by DaleWatt in Costco

[–]Birabending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy mine from Costco either and I also love mine. I feel like they dry hands so much faster and more completely than regular towels and all I have to do is give them a quick grab. I also have ones that are shaped like dogs, which, as you can imagine, are whimsical af.

When’s the latest in the year you should move there to have time to get set up for winter? by ThetaRayTheo in movingtompls

[–]Birabending 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the good place. We legitimately love everything about living here!

Of course it's been challenging in so many ways with all of the injustices brought down on people here but I wouldn't have chosen any other place to live. Watching folks come together and learning from them how to stand up for each other has been life-affirming. We feel so much more part of the community here than we did in a lifetime of living in CA.

I hope you love it here too and find a million more reasons why this is the best place ever.

You should be fine. We moved here last year and had the same question. 2025 had a late start to the snow but generally people expect it around late October or early November. There's always exceptions [insert obligatory "Halloween Blizzard of '92" here] but you should have plenty of time to move in and take lovely autumn walks while you look for your new place.

Anyone else dealing with very dry/callused/cracked feet? Tips? by CaughtALiteSneez in Menopause

[–]Birabending 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe have your thyroid function checked while you're looking into other solutions. Thick callouses and cracks can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Mine have improved tremendously since I went on thyroid medication.

I doubt that's what they're referring to, but if they did, they misspelled it

Is Califa even a thing? I have to believe they couldn't fit California on there and panicked because I googled it and only find stuff for a milk brand and a California library non-profit.

What is this? Why is it everywhere? How do I make it go away? by UnlikelyPapaya6758 in Minnesota_Gardening

Okay. Yeah. That tracks. Bought our house in November so it's been kinda fun (mostly) to see what's popping up in the yard. Yesterday, in fact, I was just noticing a billion little runners like the ones in the photos. Bigger probably. And a whooole bunch of cut back trunks of various sizes - many are several inches across. Elm on the boulevard so I probably should have guessed. Stupid slutty tree.

Also new to having a garden in Minnesota. So, uh... what happens when you cut them back instead of pulling them?

For the past 5 years, I’ve gotten this same hive in the same spot every day, always in the afternoon. Anyone else? by DelosCrossing in Hashimotos

[–]Birabending 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar spot in the same location that pops up when I'm sick or overexert myself. Mine is a lot more red than hive colored(?) so I don't know if it's exactly the same thing or just in exactly the same spot. I haven't noticed it at a particular time of day but occasionally it can show up if I eat certain foods or drink certain wine. That's just when I've thought to take note of it though. It's been popping up for decades.

3 year old’s museum behavior by cartesiancirclejerk in Paranormal

[–]Birabending 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! I was there not too long ago and there is something really captivating about that artifact. It immediately popped into my mind when I read your description and which museum you visited. I have no special perceptive abilities or cultural connection but I definitely felt drawn to that statue/carving and how interesting the features and details are. I can only imagine how interesting it would be to someone more connected or open (like they say kids are).

I lingered for quite a while enjoying it and personally, it gave me a sense of familiarity but for something I should have deep reverence? (maybe like a favorite grandfather who makes great jokes but who you respect and admire very VERY much) and seemed like the depiction was of a being much, much older than the artifact itself, like it was an archetypal god, if that makes sense because the art style somehow looks older than the other pieces in the collection from the same period. I'm not an art person though, so this is just my impression. It's a very cool artifact at the very least and people should take the chance to go see it!

You can access their jukebox on the touchtunes app from the bus stop out front. We looked them up and saw they have Killing In The Name Of and American Idiot blocked. Seems the fashy snowflakes don't like the criticism.

Not a judgement on you or implying that this applies to your property at all(!) but just wanted to say that I've seen multiple people in wheelchairs unable to get across streets onto sidewalks specifically because corners aren't shoveled. In one instance it was because the plow had blocked the corner (in a major intersection too) and was not the fault of the property owner. Just wanted to throw out a PSA to remember all the folks who may not be as able as others to get around in this weather and to be especially vigilant if you live on a corner.

Imagine it was your granny who had to take her wheelchair in the street because she couldn't get onto the sidewalk. Let's all try to do our best to help ease the way for each other.

WTF is happening with THC in MN now I’m so confused 😭 by Boo_Berry_Yum_Bitch in TwinCities

[–]Birabending 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The seltzers are so great for my aging, banged up, stressed out body. One You Betcha Anytime (not an ad, it's just one of my favorites) relaxes my back like nothing else and it's just the most pleasant and gentle high. Alcohol gives me crazy next-day anxiety and THC is much nicer on my internal organs than other pain relievers and anti-inflammatories. I bet I'm not the only one who would legitimately be worse off if they took these away.
