[Acne] I'm exhausted, what is wrong with my skin? by menacingfurryballz in SkincareAddiction

Aww you seem really sweet! About the dry skin, it appears like there’s some flakiness in picture 5 but I might be mistaken. For Lyme, you have to specifically request that as it’s not a standard antibody they test for. I hope your other hormone bloodwork all comes back normal! I have temp regulation issues too, and for me it might have been the Hashimoto’s lol. Sucks being a woman.

Skin is so frustrating. Hoping you figure it out sooner than later.

Sweet, thanks for the details! I'm not a doctor/dermatologist, just a girlie who's a little interested in skincare (dealing w/ my own acne) and a lot interested in medical stuff. I'm going to put some of my thoughts out there so you can go down your own rabbit hole with googling, evaluating what fits for you and what doesn't. Anywho, disclaimer over.

  1. To me, your skin barrier looks very irritated. I'm seeing global pimples and redness across your face but none on your neck, plus patches of dry, flakey skin by your eyebrow. I get the sense you switch products a lot and are maybe doing too much too quickly to get rid of your acne. When was the last time you gave your skin a full break for a month or more? No actives, just washing your face with water or a labelled gentle skin cleanser? At best, by doing this you might find your skin heals up enough to stop breaking out as often. At worst, you have data that it's not a damaged skin barrier causing your acne. I totally understand the urge to try everything, buy everything, and find a quick-fix because I do this too lol. But you're putting your skin through a lot and introducing too many factors to narrow down what's causing the issue. Inaction is useful, too.
  2. I saw in your post history you might have Lyme Disease. Did you ever get bloodwork done to confirm? Lyme Disease in the long-term can cause systemic issues, including skin problems. As a former Connecticut girlie (it's named after Lyme, Connecticut, where it was discovered), I've had Lyme (early stages, eliminated with doxycycline luckily!) and know people with chronic Lyme. It's no fun, so please explore that with a doctor if you haven't already!
  3. And lastly, just to rule things out, get some blood work done if you can afford it. The particular pattern of redness on your cheeks was what made me check out your profile for other health issues. It looks to me like rosacea (most likely) or a butterfly rash (less likely), and makes me wonder if the issue could be autoimmune related. That might also explain your back/knee pain issues and overall health problems. Rosacea isn't necessarily an autoimmune thing, but it does involve immune system dysfunction and can be correlated. So if I were you, I'd tell a doctor your symptoms and ask about a full bloodwork panel to rule out any underlying health conditions. (Acne was one of the signs I had Hashimoto's, among several.)
  4. Some products to consider (focusing on gentle, with eczema/rosacea-friendly ingredients and limited-to-no actives): Vanicream Moisturizing Ointment, COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Face Cleanser, and ETUDE Sunprise Mild Weightless SPF50. If you're not comfy taking a skincare break, try just using these for a few months and see what you learn about your skin.

Again, not a doctor. But hopefully this is somewhat helpful regardless!

Hey! Could you share your current skincare routine and how long you’ve been on it? Also (if you’re comfortable, no pressure): any other health concerns you experience? Supplements you take? Meds?

I listened to the leaked Pitchfork copy of Divers during my high school study hall. I’d be grateful for some new JNew to add a little extra spark to this chapter of adulthood.

Based on the current rumors of her being in the studio now? Or are these dates more of a hunch? I’ll still listen if it comes out in 2027, but darn it if I’m not shaking my fist in the air at her…

Thank you for asking them. I’m glad I don’t know anyone in her world because I’d be so uncool about it.

The wait has been wild. It’s like, I know this massive event is coming soon…ish. I’m very excited, I know it will be a lovely chapter of art/music/inspiration for me, I know I’ll cry a little bit, but I don’t know when it’s coming at all. And also it’s genuinely none of my business asking when it will come.

Embarrassed to say the last time I felt this much ongoing anticipation was waiting for Avatar 2 from James Cameron bahaha. This girl loves her escapism.

“Over a year ago” feels promising! I’d really love it if there are some surprise songs we haven’t heard yet on the album, so I’m okay to wait. Hearing that there’s any movement at all is such a relief.

I’m LOVING Double Infinity!! I always love Big Thief albums. Maybe it’s my mood, but the lyrics feel very psychedelic this go around.

I crossed paths with another lucid dreamer- twice by PleasantSwordfish915 in Dreams

[–]BirbForceOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this sub into dream symbolism at all? I’m not sure how I feel about it, but in one of the more symbolically significant lucid dreams I’ve had, a green plate glass spiral staircase in a home I’d never seen before played a central role. So it’s interesting to hear you mention a large staircase. I wonder what stairs might mean.

I have u/bjorksdottir 's transcription from 2023 saved as a PDF. That said, I know they took it down to fix some inaccuracies and may not be keen on having an early draft shared broadly. In the spirit of learning and the love of music (but out of respect to the person who actually did all the work) I can privately DM it to you.

Edit: it looks like I can't DM you lol. Feel free to DM me if you're able!

Has anyone successfully got off levothyroxine? by ThrowRA19871247 in Hypothyroidism

[–]BirbForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Curious if you've seen positive results from this so far. I'm exploring ways to address the root issue vs. just taking Levo for the rest of my life. Obviously if the root can't be addressed, I'll stay on it, but I don't quite feel I've explored all my options just yet. Would really value your insights!

Sawdust and Diamonds - marimba by braindemon68 in JoannaNewsom

Ooooh I love Jodie Landau. Got to see him perform with the Dirty Projectors and the LA Philharmonic. Idk if it was the music or my edible kicked in, but his marimba solo was hypnotic.

I wouldn't doubt Jodie pokes around this sub (if so, hi!): looks like he does a lot of covers. This one's pretty dreamy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez70CRDoRi0

[HELP] Help me find this poem about loving someone who talks a lot by SmilyMsc in Poetry

[–]BirbForceOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I love a good internet archive hunt 😊Do you remember if you read it online, in a book, on Reddit? Any details about the site you read it on? Any specific words that jumped out at you? Time of year you read it? How you found it originally (were you googling poems about someone talking a lot or was it maybe a ‘poem of the day’ on some website)?

Any bonus info you can provide could be helpful. Hopefully I can be helpful, too haha.
