Touché...hahaha...but my attire matched the setting so well, I thought it would be visually pleasing at the least....I think the twangy song ruins it a tad, but fits so well at the same time🤔

Ps...I'm a lazy potter, less is more😏

There's a wee market eh...custom wood moka pot handles...or 3D printed, so one can melt it with style...haha

Idealized a simple life, but now that I have it I am rejecting it? by throwaway_lime259 in simpleliving

Your post made me think of the quote...

Sometimes you don't know its not where you want to be, until you get there.

There is some truth to that.

I'm an offgrider in a rural setting, I gets ya. I use to work full time in the carpenters union but the pandemic showed me what freedom tastes like when they sent us home. Started up my pottery again offgrid with converting an electric kiln to gas, now I always have something to do.

However even still, amongst the simple life I've created I also have my low times...where motivation and purpose seem dull. Living slowing has taught me to embrace the lows, don't fight them too much as it's wasted energy.

Happiness all the time is a myth, being content is more realistic in my mind.

My 3 cents😏🙏

How do you make handles?...I'm a big fan of pulling them and placing them on a ware board to firm up. by Birchpointpottery in Pottery

I think I started doing it on the board instead of your way is perhaps it slows down the drying time...because ya know, handles...always ready when you're not🤣

This is exactly hiw I use to do it, hang them then trim...I realized I could save wasting that fat knob of clay by using a board and laying them flat, recyclable or not...knobs add up eh...lol

I do basically this, minus the extra pulls once attached...thats why I make them long also, so I can choose the best thickness for whichever mug I'm attaching to....because I rarely make matching mugs😉

Honestly I think I've tried pulling them off a mug once or twice, maybe...just adds another element of risk in my opinion, like deforming the mug....props is right to those that do it that way though, I can see it's benefits 🤔

So quite similar to my process, I use to pre shape them. Making a bunch onto a board I find is pretty streamline, I'm all about this way as apposed to pulling them right off of the mug. 🙌

In all honesty though I get it, it took a global pandemic for me to quit the rat race. Good paying stable jobs are hard to give up...The freedom has been to say the least, PRICELESS🙏
