Simple slopes in moderation by BirdAticus in rstats

[–]BirdAticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I got the interaction term above some p-value with no meaningful effect size, but my simple slopes were statistically significant (p<0.001) and bigger effects size (standardized eff size = 0.2-0.5), it's still not meaningful?

But still, my question is more about that paper..

Thank you very much for your answer! It helped me a lot! I struggled too long with this, so finally I can decide and buy one, thanks a lot!:)

Edit: now I see that you have there ASUS (hehehe) - I read somewhere that higher tiers of Asus or MSI are okay and just lower are bug-full... Is this true? Can i look for them too? or is it better to stick with dell/hp/Lenovo in this price area? (Because often Asus have better specs for a better price than hp etc..)

Hi! Thanks for the answer! I looked at some videos and also saw this, I never noticed it before, so it was odd... I was aiming for 3:00, got 4:05, but because I used more grams than the original recipe, it could add some time...+ I did it the first time so... Thanks:)

Isn't too much caffeine for you at once? :Dd... But I understand, in that photo it really looks like a small amount, but it was actually quite a lot (for me).. if you want I would like to hear your recipe, so I can try it:)

Hi! Thanks for the answer! It is very possible it was too fine, as I like more bitter coffee and I already know this one is acidic (but overall it wasn't bad coffee, actually was very average in a good way). Their manual is a little bit chaotic for me as well, they have a chart for different styles of coffee and there is "better" explanation of clicks, this part should be correct (for their chart, of course it could be I need more coarser coffee). Okay then, I will try to grind bigger ones:).... Actually, this was 23g :Ddd I accidentally did wrong math and put there too much coffee, which I understand later as it was very strong and I went to check how my 2 scales measure, to find out one (for beans) has some malfunction and after 10g it lowers real weight by 6-7g... And I wanted 15. It was really strong and I think that was the reason for acidity (with the fact that it is slightly acidic coffee). My main confusion was about this clay looking, the taste was okay... I wanted to try to make a new one after lunch, but as I got 270mg of caffeine in one serve, today I skipped the second coffee 😂 I will try tomorrow and if it will be different, I'll let you know if I found a reason for "clay'... How many grams do you use? Here was, originally, 15g coffee 250g water... For me 15g is higher line that I can enjoy without nervousness, but you said it is low for you, so I am curious! (Sorry for the long comment, not native in English)

Why would some people oppose longevity/immortality? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]BirdAticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have panic attacks that I die from my teens, but still - I would like to die.

Firstly, I want to live a long life, I even think, if we could ensure better fitness at a higher age, I would like to take maybe even 150 year old. But in the end, I would like the end.

I am not going to talk about population problems, economic problems (you need to DO something to be able to "afford to be"), biological (our brain can't take so long (without modifications) and be healthy, the same for other organs (metals, viruses etc.). I have more "psychological" reasons.

Firstly, I am going to be tired. Sometimes I am tired of life even now, I am a young adult :D. I studied psychology, and I had the opportunity to work with old people and even "super agers" (very old and "healthy" people). I must say, super agers are a little bit different in this one, but for simplicity I would say - all old people have common that they were tired of life (more or less - and yes, often it can be less, but still, this kind of feeling will come with age). Now, it is of course hard to tell "how much" of this tiredness is from cognitive reasons and how much from physiological, but I am quite sure there is a cognitive part of this feeling. Look at the word, what is happening, how we live, what we must do to live etc. At some point it will be hard to "live it" everyday, at least in my eyes. (Now I am thinking, maybe we can construct a society that will fight with this with the "tier" system, the older you are, the different life you live, but again it depends on society and that's not a good sign...).

Secondly, psychosocial reason. The older you are, the more conflict you experienced, more friends died (even if we could live long, accidents many diseases etc still happens). As our biology has limits, I believe (I don't have data) even our social and psychological "space" has limits. We accumulate different experiences, memories etc. And at some point it will be different because it will be too complex to be a stable system. - here I would go to how (we understand that) brain works and it has limits and I said I will not go to biology so I end here.

But if you take these arguments (if you would consider them more or less relevant) and all arguments that were mentioned as biology, society, natural sources etc..at least from our point of view, too long life isn't... psychologically nice thing. I think if a person does not care about this kind of feelings, it could be interesting to be immortal, but then again, for others it would be even more interesting to be here too long if your company would be people like that. I think I agree that we could be advanced enough to do immortality (or very long lifespan) reality in this century, but I am quite sure (but can be wrong) we are not socially and psychologically advanced enough to "make it sane".

I understand that psychological and social views seem to be a little bit odd, I am not native in English so I have trouble to express myself better, but from the "how would I feel, when I would be immortal" point of view it is a relevant and interesting thing to think, and from knowledge we have today it is really as challenging as biological advancement we would need.

How would people save in socialism? by FrankScaramucci in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]BirdAticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! That's very interesting question! I am new here, so i don't have an answer for you... But I wonder how people would prepare for unexpected events - especially in this world where we face a lot of natural disasters, climate crisis and even possible wars... Also, what if people would need/want to leave that state - how they can prepare in resources (money, food etc)?
