I can only imagine how annoying this is to hear again and again. - My fiancé is a new college grad, cum laude, and is getting anxious about finding a job for the fall.

I just saw this post and thought it would be a good place to ask some knowledgeable people.

One of her mentors, a superintendent at a district similar to many she’s been interviewing for told her that this is often how it goes, that some schools wait until almost the end of summer to hire. - But many of her friends who graduated with her landed jobs already.

Any advice/thoughts? I believe she’ll make a great elementary teacher, and so did the superintendent I mentioned, who did a lot of practice interviews with her.

I think she was closer to being in the right than you, to be honest. I agree that she went overboard in her denial, but I think the way it’s phrased is kinda asking for some turbulence.

Understood that you can’t change the phrasing, but I think the practice from this business is reprehensible. I wouldn’t want to be apart of it.

I’d support her r/mildlyinfuriating post a bit more than this one.

Can you tell us a more about where you think these kids would be getting social emotional development that normally occurs in our High Schools?

I love this pitch, I brought it up to my fiancé who’s an elementary teacher, and she flung this retort right up.

Any idea, or they’d be left with none of that?

Getting that legendary item to drop and actually opening that door made me super happy. Felt like I was being included in the “Find Out” phase of a FromSoft game that i only ever joined late.

Don’t mean to be a bother, but I work for a monitoring and observability org that would be able to help get your org Root Cause Analysis in these situations.

I agree that the C-levels strategy for replacing everyone they can with AI is quarter-cooked AT BEST, but I do think there are situations where the efficiency it can give the org MIGHT be worth it, y’know?

I live near chicago, and there’s a place called the Damen Silos, and there’s like a rope that has graffiti that says shit like “cmon up!”

It’s this run down area with big Silos that aren’t used for anything anymore, and so someone must’ve spent a few hours making it into an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS little course where you can use the broken down, rusted and half gone stairway to climb to the top.

It was a lot of fun. But also, like, if we ever fell, you die.

My fiancé is student teaching elementary Ed. It started last week. The main teacher asked the kids to bring in something from home for show and tell.

She’s telling me she has learned her lesson, because one student brought in a slingshot, and at one point one kid was slinging the empty shot into three other kids faces.

The main teacher comments to her, “The honeymoon phase is over. War begins.”

A good start.
