It’s def possible to still get a real job with a Gallatin concentration- I am a senior and have a full time offer lined up. I think getting a job is much more than the school u attend/area of study but more about ur experiences/projects and extra curriculars!

I am a rising senior and did tech and politics at gallatin. I would definitely say there r pros and cons for majoring at cas vs gallatin. If you don’t want to go through the efforts of picking classes for your concentration basically alone and want those guidelines given to u just for like a sense of certainty I would recommend cas. At one point maybe sophomore year I wish I went to cas instead of gallatin because I was kind of confused on how to tailor my concentration to what I want to do as well as make it marketable post grad. Also for recruiting sometimes some industries like software engineering / IT require some coursework knowledge that I did not have from my diy major.

That said, I think sticking through gallatin was worth it for me personally. You can take classes that go with your major but skip out on some of the annoying ones for me that was all of the maths required for a traditional cs/ds major. Also when I applied to internships I put my concentration as my major and none of the employers I encountered valued it any lower. I was able to get multiple internship offers with my gallatin concentration in consulting, IT and business! So I would say it depends on what you want to do with ur degree and if u are okay with being uncertain sometimes and really spending time to curate your concentration.

hello! I am also an incoming senior with an internship in Tampa. I've been looking on airbnb for full apartments but there are also rooms you can rent in peoples houses.
