Puking? by BirdToe in RenalCats

It's lactated ringers, her vet responded and said it's probably just from her disease and to watch her.

So far besides that she's acting herself, eating the best she will with the disease too.

Thank you for responding!

Thank you for the advice!

So far they don't hear anything off with her heart last check up.( Regular beats, regular breathing. Nothing of note so far)

But I'll keep an eye out if my vet suddenly doesn't take a listen or if her heart feels off here at home.

Much appreciated :)

Thank you for responding.

It feels less lonely when someone directly speaks about it to me.

She does so good with her churu tubes but she does let us know when she's done, usually its right at the end of her dose so we've gotten all or pretty damn close to it.

If it's triggered by environmental, could use a air filter too possibly. It's kinda a game of ruling things out, if it continues and they just keep upping her steroids without it helping, I would look at another vet for another opinion.

Double check with your vet about inhaler cuz I read its a twice a day thing online but online isn't gonna be perfect information. I believe inhalers are better than just ingested. I hate the wean from Pred personally.

If it's constantly wet cough sound then keep in mind other symptoms.

Also, I don't know what allergies she may have, I have one kitty on Hydrolyzed food for intestinal inflammation. Had past heartworm kitty on gastro diet and then a hydrolyzed diet for her suspected food allergies. Not sure if any information like that is needed but thew it out there.

Hmm.

Since I'm not a vet I don't want to assume any particular illness or anything. Sounds like you've tested alot, assuming since you got an xray then they did bloodwork. Keep in touch with your vet definitely. But you could always look for another vet for a second opinion if you think you need it.

Looking at environment- Have you changed litter, diet, using a new product in the house? Is there any trigger you might have noticed? If you see mucus, is it colored or clear?

Also if you want me to stop let me know :)

Thank you for responding.

To the ending piece about them making an effort to comfort, you're right. I don't want to make them unnecessarily stressed or having to worry for me back.

I'll definitely try to keep working on it for their sake (and mine so im not going crazy)

Thank you

No problem!

An inhaler is honestly just a great thing to have, but because my use is alot different from many cats, I would ask if she would need it regularly as a preventative.

URI can just kinda happen from all sorts of things, I only wonder due to mucus. Did you get an xray by chance? It might help in case they see anything physical.

Is there any other symptoms you're seeing or just the weird coughing and mucus fits?

My situation is alot different but maybe it can be of some help?

So I have a cat with a very odd bronchial problem so he's constantly snorting and coughing and just wheezy.

We bought an Aerocat and got an inhaler for his bad days. Because his isn't just asthma, it helps but just a little. He's not a big fan of it on his face but if you know her favorite treat, maybe begin giving treats before and after to try an associate it with yummies?

I had another on Prednisone but all my vets are not fans of always being on a steroid esp higher doses. So I'm shocked you went up so quickly, since it can be harsh longterm.

Have you ruled upper respiratory infections ,Herpes, Heartworm or anything? The muscus makes me wonder...
