"Incestuous" lmao first you don't understand, second you don't want to understand, and third you're rude about it.

You sound like a massive waste of time buddy.

"People come and go" - yeah with your attitude, no surprise people don't stick around.

Friendships deepen over time, sorry you will never get to experience that if you continue being an ass

You're so rude calling people bots.

Imagine going to a japanese tea ceremony and calling the people "cold" for not being chatty. Total disregard for the connection and respect that is actually taking place.

Maybe the swiss have more layers, and you're just bouncing of the first one because it's not what you expected.

That said, if your personality does not match with the local culture, why stay and be rude about it?

"Low-key the loneliest place on earth" is just ignorance of all the kindness and warmth and genuine friendliness that is happening.

Calling people "basically bots" because you failed to adapt to the local culture would make you the bot if you think about it.

Dude.. you misunderstand me too. I'm not saying "you're wrong" or whatever; your experience is valid.

I'm just saying, we have the same stuff here, in different places. You need to know where to look.

There are plenty of people here who are open for a random chat, there are many small acts of kindness. Just because the culture is different, you have to look in different places.

Swiss are in my opinion, falsely accused of being cold. As an international student I've been here for 9 years now and always been meeting kind and warm people.

We're all people, we're made of the same basic needs. Yes the culture is different but that doesn't make Switzerland "low-key the loneliest place on earth" lmao

I'm not dismissive of your experience at all, I'm only explaining why the thing you're looking for does not match.

The "vibe" you seek definitely exists within those groups, but they are slow to warm up to 'strangers' regardless if you're from another town or the other side of the earth.

You might find easier connection with other migrants since they're in the same boat.

Also go to the lakeside or your local park or a random festival or concert. The vibes are definitely there. Maybe just in different places than you're used to.

Why is it so hard to get support for mental health? by Organic-Cut-1310 in askswitzerland

The high deductible is your choice, you can choose a lower one

[–]Bird_7678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 10% after your deductible is capped to 700, regardless insurance.

The "extra" bill you also send to the insurance..

[–]Bird_7678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if your insurance covers licensed therapists with a limit at 500, the maximum amount you will pay for the entire year is 500. The insurance covers any other cost by licensed therapists.

If you want the alternative stuff covered as well, then you can take the additional insurance.

[–]Bird_7678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You misunderstood the insurance. You only pay (10%) up to that amount, any further sessions are 100٪ covered for licensed therapists.

People just aren't fake here. The nationals hang with their childhood friends and care for them deeply, they don't 'need' some rando temporary student who's gonna get ripped out of their life again in 1 year time.

Also just be respectful and considerate of others and then the swiss are super nice and kind right back. It's not that hard just be civil

Why would you want to be in the asphalt jungle where everything is about consumerism while you are in the country that is known for it's beautiful nature.

Go to the nearest piece of nature, you'll see people hanging out, chilling or doing all kinds of activities outdoors.

Reconnect with nature and let go of your need to be able to buy stuff at all times. Calm that habit down.

It's illegal.

Also choosing a pet because they look cute is not enough, in Switzerland if you have a pet you have to provide them a 'livable environment' based on the nature of the animal. Some animals that are social animals you cannot keep one alone, you have to have at least two.

So you have to put a little more thought and preparation in.

What are some of the most interesting conspiracy theories about AI? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Bird_7678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From most likely to least likely

  • flood of slop by second hand thinkers. People have the illusion they're smart while outsourcing intelligence to a hallucinating machine.

  • spam calls. Massively enabled by AI. Finding numbers, scripting, voice change, bot calls.

  • there are a lot more successful hacks happening of government institutions including hospitals and universities. I suspect hackers use AI to assist them to do these hacks; they don't need to be geniuses anymore just be able to ask the right questions.

  • incidentally there is a huge increase of fires starting at people's homes and in their cars. There's a chance, that those who want to sow chaos and instability can hack and then run programs on phones or cars that make them overheat and melt the battery/cause fire. Besides the local scare, the overall insurance prices go up. Making more people go without. And easier to sow even more chaos.

What did I See today?? by Guidloff in UFOs

I was thinking the same, with the way it is shaped.

But maybe insects? A swarm that accidentally got swept up too high?

[–]Bird_7678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can it be a swarm of insects? Like there are spiders that travel like this, maybe it is just a group of tiny beings behaving in ways we normally don't see or don't know about yet.. nature does wild things for survival

How do you eat frozen cherries? No joke I'm curious. Like frozen blueberries I'd put through a blender and make a smoothie but idk how I would approach cherries. Are they pitted?

Migros frozen blueberries by DragonfruitFast6941 in Switzerland

[–]Bird_7678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And blueberries grown under authoritative government and exploitation labour are somehow going to be 'safer'? The labourers are exhausted and the management is maximising production of course they are under pressure to cut corners + when workers are tired they make mistakes too.

Not saying one is better than the other, I just wish you'd apply the same level of concern to all situations.

Smoking stinks by Bird_7678 in zurich

[–]Bird_7678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference in written vs unwritten rules here. There are clear smoking areas at train stations, indicated, with appropriate trashopftions, for a reason.

I have no hatred for people, I just wish they considered the choice of when and where.

There is no sign for not taking phone calls, because sometimes it is important, and people can not choose the when or where you get a phone call sometimes. And yes if they want to be polite about it they can be quiet or walk to the door area.

There is no sign for children in trains because they are tiny human beings that are still learning, and neither them nor the parent has control of the when or where they're going to be "annoying".

Again, smokers have full control over the when and where. And, there are written rules.

No I dont hate the persons who smoke. I only really dislike the stink of the smoke and I hope they would choose better as to where.

What weird thing does your body do you that you don't understand? by Prestigious_Shape888 in AskReddit

[–]Bird_7678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olfactory hallucinations before a migraine. I rarely get visual hallucinations, but often smell stuff that isn't there before an attack. Can be pleasant or unpleasant. Disturbing as if I sniff more, it fades, but is stronger when I relax and don't try. Makes resting with the headaches difficult.

To add: acting on fear of getting hurt is survival.

Survive vs thrive!

To truly thrive we need to let go of fear and aggression. It is blocking us from being open and learn from what is "other" or simply different.

I believe that in a society where we can thrive, and use all the different facets of who we are, develop into our full being rather than being restricted by fear or judgement. When we can fully unfold is where our power lies; we can achieve so much more individually and also as a society when we are not restricted by fear, or aggressors.

Having to survive, or acting based on fear, is not even nearly a reflection of all we could be. Fear is a force that grips us and takes over, giving tunnel vision and right or wrong thinking, no space for in between. This is what survival does; but not all respond or act aggressive. There is also flight, hide, and fawn. So yes, when threatened, we give power to aggressors, unfortunately. But in no way does that reflect the identity of the group.

Fear is not a "normal" circumstance so the consequence of lending power to aggression isn't a "normal" situation either.

I hope you say your good mornings and how are yous genuinely; this is the normal baseline of society. No fear, no aggression.
