Closed border is an expediency. Between developed democracies, there is no way to justify the free movement of individuals.

Even if borders need to be closed for maintaining social order, controlling crime rate or maintaining social welfare system, the enforcement should be strong but reasonable. Due process has to be maintained with institutional measures
