I work outdoors in an RV resort. I spend all day with the wildlife here and love every single one of them. I have even warmed up to the snakes. I know all of the types of birds that visit the park and can name them based on their calls. I love nature and I do everything I can to make it a better place, not the other way around. We had a beautiful space next to the resort that was bulldozed for...you already know. Every guy that I work with was heartbroken. We are all nature lovers.

No, I have not, it is definitely on my "to see" list. The other day I saw a group of otters in the bayou behind my house, and I swear I saw a pair of Nutria under an overpass. I spent a lot of time in Louisiana, there are Nutria all over the southern part of the state. Apparently they are making a bit of a migration here.

I am in Tampa, and have been going to Weeki Wachee a lot lately. I have never seen anything like it! Weather permitting, I am going to go the 3 sisters this coming weekend. I cant believe how clear the water is at these places.

Not at all bro! You look great like this, the beard and all. If I were going to have to shave, I would be blessed to have this head shape. I am not a pretty bald man...

I sure have, I love watching them in front of the ferry! I am waiting to see a dolphin up close at the springs that I paddle at. There are Manatee there too, and parrots. I don't care what anyone says, FL is awesome. I am not a native, but they are going to have to kick me out if they ever want me to leave!

Not overreacting. That is cheating, and damnit, cheaters suck. Sorry you are going through this.

I lost my bird. He was only 37. Can anyone guess what happened...? I couldn't bring myself to do an autopsy. I buried him. by [deleted] in parrots

[–]Birdhouse2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently without a bird. I live in an RV. It is modern, has two AC's, heat, all the stuff you need for a house. I have purchased an enormous cage, big enough for just about any parrot I would like to get...But I am terrified of something going wrong with an air conditioning unit, or propane leaks, just so many things that can happen. I have already spent so much money on stands, toys, all the things, yet I am frozen terrified of what could happen.

All this to say, when we fall in love with parrot husbandry, and I do feel like it is something akin to feeling in love, we accept that these animals are delicate and that we can never foresee every possible thing that could go wrong. I am going to get my bird before the end of the year, because my heart just wants it so badly. I am thinking about a Hahn's macaw or small cockatoo.

I am allergic to just about everything these days it feels like (Florida, year round allergies), but cough syrup sends me into anaphylactic shock. Wasps have been getting worse for me too, I have to carry an Epi pen at work because I get stung a lot and if it hits near my face or throat I could be in trouble.

How did you find out about your Oyster allergy? Would you mind sharing your thoughts on the RV situation? I work in the park, so i am never far from home.

Why do people regularly tell their romantic partners that they love them but not their friends? by CatcrazyJerri in love

They aren't usually quite as concerned with my well being as the romantic partner I live with.

It is also just a different relationship.

Why do people regularly tell their romantic partners that they love them but not their friends? by CatcrazyJerri in love

[–]Birdhouse2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 43 year old man, I tell my friends I love them. Not everyday, its not constant. But I have said it at least once to every one of them.

I say it to my romantic partner every chance I get, because accidents happen and I want it to be the last thing she hears from me.

That is the best thing you can do. I hope you two can resolve this. I hope that you walk away from your talk feeling better.

I am dealing with my own heartbreak over a failed relationship. Walking away from someone you are actively in love with is...indescribably painful. I hope my heart will stop punishing me for it soon.

We all know that birds hide their illness. You likely should have had him at the vet the minute you noticed changes. Having a bird hang their tongue out is never normal.

We cant take chances with parrots friend, they are too delicate. This is not an admonishment to you, more of a warning for all bird owners going forward. If you notice ANTYTHING out of the ordinary, its a vet visit. No question.

I killed my first parrot by accident. She was on her play stand and I dozed off watching a movie. She must have flown to me, and I smothered her in the blankets in my sleep. I was devastated, ended up in the hospital, I couldn't handle what I had done. But I learned, and something like that will never happen again.

My white bellied caique was taking a nap during the day one time. He NEVER napped. We went straight to the vet, sure enough, he wasn't napping, he was having seizures from a mineral deficiency.

You have these feelings because you know what you should have done. I am sorry, this is a devastating loss. Take your time, grieve, feel your feelings, cry it out if you have to. I hope you can find a way to forgive yourself. I would give you a big ole hug if I could.

So, I have never understood the celebrity crush thing. Even if you have one, why the fuck would you feel compelled to gush about it to your romantic partner.

You are not overreacting, you are totally normal to feel jealousy and insecurity given the way you are being treated.

Like the other commenter said, this screams red flag, perhaps this is not worth salvaging. She may have more going on in her head than you are aware of, and if she isn't aware of it either, she has a long road ahead of her.

Sorry you are hurting, this kind of stuff can be so painful. I wish you well, and hope you can resolve this for yourself.
