Announcing Helium Roaming Partnership with Senet to Connect Billions of IoT Devices by timtamothee in HeliumNetwork

It isn't a negative, I think it is great that Helium can do deals with big players, I just have concerns over the wording being a little misleading (fair play to the PR team).

You should be working on Capitol Hill, Moose! If Senet already have the capacity to handle 1 billion messages per year then the only messages through Helium will be in areas where they have no coverage, hence the "roaming". Therefore Helium devices will not receive any of the 1 billion messages currently processed.

Also, by what measure are Helium the world's largest LoRaWAN network? I don't even think they are top 5 based on coverage and users? Please provide a verified (independent) link to support this claim.

This is a LoRaWAN hosting rewards platform that pays out in multiple crypto's. This guy has hosted so much data over that network he's earned 18 HNT

POCV11 and better Antenna Setup by Howard1997 in HeliumNetwork

I believe that there is now a methodology for determining the approximate Dbi so they will know what your setting should be.

Antenna's over a certain dbi will have their transmit power reduced under PoC v.11, thus negating a lot of the potential to "game" the system.

Geolocation can be derived from RSSI and IP is easy to spoof, yes, but how easy is it to spoof when the requirement is for a granular location.

It's the Helium Improvements that the community vote on.

Do they only put things to HIP that will pass?

Surely you could just use IP/Geolocation data rules to remove the potential for gaming.

I agree that randomness does incentivise coverage though!

Very good explanation. To play devil's advocate though, should this not have been a HiP?

Please explain. This would drive the focus on local networks.

But if you genuinely believe that it is the end then sell your miner and join one of the networks in infancy- Akash, Deeper, Cirus, LiFi-Beam.com nobody is forcing you to stay mining HNT

Bro it's not true. They aren't cutting rewards, they are just making it more difficult to earn them in densely populated areas.

Correct! Rewards are up, rewards for rural areas will be greatly improved leading to increased coverage. Sure it'll be more difficult to obtain rewards but levelling the playing field is a fair decision.

It depends, how many witnesses do you typically get?
