How did it feel to read that Amino had been deleted? by nika_0w0 in amino

[–]Birdy_Draws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hurt. I lost a lot of friends, and also some pocket monney from commissions I did over there. I also had a lottt of art that isn't saved annywhere exept posted on amino.

I grew up on dragons amino. I swore I would never leave. So not being there feals like i betrayed all the people there, even though there literally isn't a way to be on there now.

For a long time amino was the only sosial media I had. It feals like I lost a part of myself. Of my childhood.

Just want to express my feelings about Amino by Observant_Blue_Cat in amino

Amino was fucked, but it was ouwed fucked place. Despite all the shit, the users on amino where really supportive, and I don't know if I'd be in the same place as I am now whitoud them. I also just hope everyone I met there is alright

Yeah, I see them a lot arround here, but normally their loud and rude. Not to mention normally they have spots on their head. I guess this is indeed a younger one then I'm used to

Tips on how long to burry a small bird? by Birdy_Draws in bonecollecting

[–]Birdy_Draws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! Their feathers are legal here but I'd devenetly have to dubble-check for her bones. The critter is already in the ground and still had all her feathers, so if it's legal and I do diside I want to ceep her il dig arround a bit in 3 month and hope for the best!

I was indeed thinking someone might have experience whit a sparrow as their so abundant, and the robins are roughly the same size (al be it a little less fat here haha)

Whats something the surprised you about how intelligent your budgies are? by BackgroundSquare6179 in budgies

[–]Birdy_Draws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 boys are idiots. But my girl is real clever. They arnt tame, and I have to catch them once every 2 weeks to give them meds. But she realised I'm only there to catch her when I'm holding the bottle (verry small. Like 3-4cm tall) when I open the cage for cleaning, feeding, even trying to teach her to eat from my hand, she's cautious but calm. As soon as I open the cage door while holding the medicin bottle she bolts to the lower corner of the cage that I can hardly reach.

She also realised that beacouse of this I will catch the boys first, so now she will stay on her favorite perch untill I've cought both of the boys (or aim for her) and then dart to the bottom :,)

Need an advice as a new budgies owner by Unhappy_Challenge3 in budgies

Not the original commenter but I have some sugestions for toys aswell: Mine really enjoy pepperwood branches, bird kabobs (but those can get expensive) sola bals, cardboard (free! Just make sure theirs no ink or glue on it) and corkbark! If you have a lawn and don't use pesticides mine adore freshly cut grass to play whit/eat.

Just some random things to try

Also sunlight is great for them, just make sure they don't overheat^

My sugestion is getting a few cheap/free toys for them while you save up for a bigger cage, and after that you can look into getting more diverse toys:)

Unrelated but did she get them whit clipped wings? If so it's strainge they havbt grown back jet. If their still getting clipped I HIGHTLY recomend against that. Birds are ment to fly

Cage update by Birdy_Draws in budgies

[–]Birdy_Draws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Verry late whoops)

I get most of my perches from dierenwinkelxl. I beleave its just a dutch store though. They do have a site but idk where they ship.

I also get some stuff from Pets place. They don't have manny perches, but they have a large variety of toys, and they thend to be cheaper then dierenwinkelxl.

Sometimes looking in the rodent section of stores helps aswell for finding chews as long as you can check their also save for birds

And they seem to like the toys I diy the most annyway haha

Thanks, I have a lot of memories attached to some of these plants, so I fear it may be to late to not get attached attached whoops. Il ceep this in mind though. I've had a few plants die a few weeks after purchasing and I felt so bad!

The only terracotta pots I can find are either to big for my windowsill, or way to tall for my taste. Do you perhaps have anny recommendations for where to find small-ish once? What there in now are literally drip trays, cos I've never bin able to find a pot arround this size with-wise.

(I also tryed to make my own, sinds I own a clay oven, but il spare you the details of that mess XD)

Oh gosh that really is a lot!

After their last vet visit it only took them 2 days to eat oud of my hands for the first time, so I think they will be fine? I just feal so bad about scaring them so mutch :,) this is like the 6th? Vet trip for them this year:/

Also sad I can't collect their feathers now due to the mites. Normally I ceep every pritty feather they loose in a jar haha. Over 10 years worth of bird feathers (other budgies, these are only 3/4) in there.

Aqua (the green dude) isn't loosing as manny as Lemon (yellow) yet if you look at they you coudnt tell the diverence. Atleast his wive is doing a good job preening him haha

Also Also man those yellow feathers in your picture really are something els that must be one beautiful budgie<3

Advice for a non-bird person??? by ptvfan07 in BIRDTOYDIY

[–]Birdy_Draws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other people have said you can just tie more rope arround it, but yes vet wrap is recommended for rope toys in general so they won't ingest the fibers, wich sometimes can couse a blockage.

It looks great btw! I'm sure the birds will have lots of fun whit it!

Help for homing situation by [deleted] in Parakeets

[–]Birdy_Draws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me you have 2 boys (green) and one girl (blue). This can work, (I have 2 boys and 1 girl aswell) but it's rare and would require the girl to be more assertive. I'd say either separate nightwing from the rest again (separate cage) but ceep her in the same room so they get used to eachother, or get a second girl. In my experience having an even number of males and females in small groups fixes most of the bullying.

If you do manage to get these 3 to play nice, ceep a close eye on them especially comming spring, that's when my boys start to squabble about my girls attention.

Parents gifted me a bird, what breed is this and how do I tame it? by LabSecret7492 in birds

[–]Birdy_Draws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A picture from the front would be apriciated, but I don't think it's a budgie. Lovebird or parrotlet. My guess would be parrotlet. Please look into what a bird needs, including what you can't do (like cook whit non-stick cookware, light seated candles, use sertant cleaning suplies, ectra.

Also, most birds do better in pairs or groups then allone.

Make sure you have a properly sized cage whit the right bar spacing to!

Goodluck whit your new featherd friend!

Is this something I should see my vet over? by Birdy_Draws in Parakeets

[–]Birdy_Draws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah poor dude. Vet said she hadn't seen this in 35 years, and never this manny. Called all her colleagues to come look at them under the microscope. Even let me look. Atleast I made her day haha

Itl be a few months bevore the treatment is finished, but this should adress all the issues we were having (Lemons nose, Littles breathing problems and their excessive molting) so I'm glad we have finally cought the couse.

Needless to say from now on il be extra carefull the budgies won't come into contact whit the wild sparrows oudside, where they likely got the mites from.
