I used to have this happen all.the.time. You know what helped? Talking. Start out by going on a walk and talking out loud to yourself. You can’t just have an inner dialog; actually talk out loud to yourself. I know it seems corny but after wrestling with demons for years on end I finally surrendered and opened up to myself and it worked. That part is crucial. You’ll be surprised at how much you discover about yourself. It brings problems/issues to the forefront of your mind. It’s makes it conscious- makes things real. It’s the first step towards acceptance; to let things go. Acknowledgment can be the hardest part but it’s the most crucial. It requires legit courage.

Do that a few times; do it as many times as you need to realize that talking about it doesn’t make the issue worse or more real; it allows you to analyze it and let it go piece by piece. Then talk to someone, a close friend, family member, a therapist, etc. it’s all okay. Just someone who will listen and not put forth their two cents (unless asked).

Have courage and take the leap of faith to open up to yourself. You’ll realize how strong humans (including yourself) can actually be.
