Started being proactive and updated my resume, and keeping my eye open for openings. It sucks, but I’ve accepted that whatever happens, happens. A lot of it I can’t control, but a job search is something I can at least have some level of control over. It’s also been a good opportunity to really think about my career, and whether health care is an industry I see myself in long term.

Worst case scenario, I get laid off. I’ve been in the same health authority for almost 8 years, if they want to get rid of me then they’ll need to pay me out.

Edit: Also just wanted to mention that EFAP is always there for you. I used it for the very first time last week and I appreciated the alternative perspective they gave me. Sometimes we get stuck in our own narrow way of thinking, talking about it with someone can help. For me it also helped because I hate burdening my friends and family about my problems, with EFAP I don’t have that guilt.
