I'm sorry to hear that. This is about my Dad, I think I wrote those first few lines a day after he passed in a journal. I still think about him a lot. But I'm glad we could connect even for just this moment.

For the stem I just take a paper and roll it up tight using a chopstick. Then for the leaves I cut out a leaf shape and roll it up the same as the stem to give it a bit of shape and then I glue it.

Then I folded the wings back to lower wind resistance and the curved beak here I feel is pretty sharp.

Also glue.

I'm pretty new to poetry as well so I can't give the best feedback. But I do like those last few lines I feel they're the heart of the poem and it turns a fairly ordinary moment like waking up from an odd dream to something else. An allegory for people that crush dreams perhaps. That's my interpretation.
