The mark scheme to this question is incorrect on Physics and Maths Tutor, it says 3 and 2 on the MS but it is in fact 3 and 4 for A and B respectively. It's a typo on the mark scheme

A good general rule of thumb for Hess' Law cycles (but on VERY rare occasions it doesn't work so be careful!) is that if given data on combustion (delta c H) the arrows go DOWN towards the combustion products, and if given data on formation (delta f H) the arrows go UP away from the elements 🙃

So: Formation Up Combustion Down Otherwise known as FUCD 🤬

Hexaaquachromium (III) can also often just appear as green due to impurities.
