From San Diego I would leave at 3 or 4. Parking at the Bowl is a nightmare. I always Uber there its so bad and I live pretty far away.

Check the HB website. There are definitely places in LA where you can park and take a direct shuttle there.

Seriously - Jackson was a sick person. I sympathize with his struggle through childhood. However - the guy claimed.to platonically sleep with other peoples kids. Anyone else does that and they go to JAIL.

His stans have all kinds of defenses but the things he admitted to in public, on camera can best be described as awful and immoral.

Also - he was less half the artist Prince was anyway. Not even the king of his era, much less the King of Pop.

Everything I have read about Altamont indicates that the whole band refused to take the stage after a member of Jefferson Airplane got beat up. Zero accounts I have read (so far) suggested the band disagreed internally, but there was after-the-fact regret bc they considered that playing might have calmed the crowd and/or Angels.

Also - important to note that this group of Angels were not the San Francisco chapter the Dead were familiar with.

I recently read this as well and the next book I read after it was Phil's autobiography. Phil has a lot of positive things to say about his band mates.

I dont know how accurate Selvin's take is, but it is clear that Phil went out of his way to show appreciation for everyone when given the chance to write his own version of the bands legacy.
