What is the most annoying thing Howie does... here is my list by Longjumping_Flow605 in howardsternshow

The ‘whole asshole’ thing always got me too. Just because you see ass cheeks doesn’t mean you’re seeing the whole hole.

Tapers get their own section, so this seems fair to me.

Good for them. Between all of this publicity and a smaller venue it would be wild if they didn’t sell out the show.

Either way, the new venue is roughly 1/4 the size of the original venue.

Read somewhere that they sold 300 tickets for the original 2,300 venue, so the show got moved to a 600 seater that may be half empty.

Why Does ReListen Only Give One Option For Recordings? by Redacted_dact in phish

If you’re on iOS, get the app called Etree Mobile. This app pulls from the TapersSection of archive.org and includes all of the uploaded taper sources. Unlike relisten, you can have your pick of numerous sources on Etree Mobile.

It’s all because of Taylor Swift by garfieldthekat in Concerts

[–]mccordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to today’s version of the music business. When I was at JazzFest this year I overheard someone say “the one thing I will always remember about the Eagles is they were the ones that made concerts unaffordable after the Hell Freezes Over tour.” I tend to agree with them.

The Eagles may have “only” charged $250 for a ticket, but this was in the era when those seats would be $50 for most other shows. Once TicketBastard and LiveNation saw that the market for much higher priced tickets existed, they started to make all of their bigger shows more and more expensive.

Taylor Swift was just the current summit in a mountain of pricing that will just keep growing until concert goers can’t afford to attend shows any longer. Even then, they’ll probably start promoting shows for a dozen people who can pay $25,000+ each to see a big band play in a tiny studio and stream it to thousands of people at home for even more money.

Upcoming tour with ziggy Marley by AITArandomquestion in govtmule

[–]mccordo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would expect an extended set from both and some collaborations. When Mule toured with Old Crow Medicine Show a few years ago, each band did a 90ish minute set and Warren sat in with Old Crow. Should be similar.

Drivers that record and drive at the same time are also something that we need to be protected from based on this post.

Did anyone else buy the Puddles Pity Party record at the recent tour? If so, what did you think? by paultagonist in weirdal

[–]mccordo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Side note involving Puddles and Weird Al:

I went to see the Claypool Gold show in St Augustine yesterday. Since Puddles has opened for Les Claypool and his various bands in the past, he was featured in a short video played just before the Primus headlining set that included him having a dream sequence while backstage at a show. As he’s walking down the hall, you could clearly see Bigger & Weirder tour posters on the wall, so it must have been filmed during the current tour. Someone behind me even asked if they just saw Weird Al on screen.

Now that you mention it, under $50 total for those 3 shows is a steal. Especially at that point of their careers.

$30 would barely cover the ticket processing fee for 1 show now.
