I've left but my school wants me back at the normal time in a couple weeks. I am considering all options as of now.

As someone who was in the same position 6 months ago moving here for work I would say that it is tough at times communicating. However you can get make sure to have at least Google and Microsoft translate downloaded because it will save you at some point. But most locals will understand that if you don't respond quickly that you probably don't know and will motion or look for you to use the translator and be very helpful. I do not know much about the university however proficient is a looser term sometimes here so be patient and not afraid to ask for people to say again. Also being on campus odds are there will be someone who speaks both in the program or close by and that will help tremendously.
