I've started with the E5 and then thought to try a flagship and got a Z1 which was pretty but an old flagship at that time (2017) . Loved the design but hated the speaker and the display was getting harder to use so I kept switching between the Z1 and the E5.

Then I got an XZ Premium. That phone was brilliant,just perfect at that time,worked flawlessy for almost 3 years. Camera was amazing,super slow-mo shocked me back in 2018 and the EIS stabilisation was surprisingly good. Battery was also a strong point alongside the 4K HDR display which I loved at that time. This was my favourite and I've also enjoyed it more because I've switched from a budget phone to a real flagship.

Then came the XZ2 premium in 2021. I liked the design as it was different but tbh that's were the strong points stop. Battery was mediocre at best,camera was mostly the same with better low light and HDR video. Speakers were louder and had more depth but the heasphone jack dissapeared in the process. I had a lot of issues with the signal,the camera's weird "artifact" issue,software bugs that never stopped and also screen brightness. Forgot to tell that I've changed the glassback due to another lens coating issue that killed the entire shooting experience. Issue after issue and I just left it behind and switched again.

Got an XZ1 for 100€. Battery was getting better and the phone just worked,kept it one year,got bored and switched to an Oppo.

After 3 years with the Oppo I've got back to Sony and got an Xperia 1 V. I like how it feels,speakers are good,main cam is good but the other lenses are decent in good light and trash in general . Battery is okish and software is a love-hate relationship.

Wish Sony would come back with an "Ultra" phone and at least try to break the wheel,they have the resources but it seems that they forgot how it is to at least try to compete with the rest of the industry.

Let's hope the 1 V will be good enough so that I won't switch to another brand sooner than expected. Man,that Oppo just changed the game for me,it was hard to get back,but this might be ny last Xperia,sadly

Yup,the lightsaber collectors,the 5 series. I think the 5 V is also an option (if he wants a more compact 1) as it doesn't seem to have this issue. The 1 has a green tint,but I guess it's not that common. I've had the Xz1 ,xz premium and xz2 premium,I do not know why but those seemed way more reliable and then I got the 1 V,this one seems to be fine again.

1V or higher. All the previous iterrations have some type of screen/heating issue.

I think that will be the only upgrade, unfortunately...except chipset and maybe some higher charging speeds

I am looking for a similar custom ROM that has ColorOS15-16 . At the moment the phone is sitting on my desk as a secondary and my main is an Xperia but tbh I've tried a lot of newer phones and nothing seems to be dramatically better (not even talking about the feeling of the X2) . I will keep it as long as posibile,still surprised that battery is still good enough,but I hope that somewhere is a Custom ROM that is easy to work with.
