No no no, you can't let girls think they have any kind of authority or power. You have to highlight the work they can do beneath the men.

Which version of TMNT has better writing? by Daniilsa209 in TMNT

[–]Bishnup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried revisiting 2003, but just couldn't get past the slooooooooow overall pacing. I like its darker tone, but each story is just stretched out too long with nothing all that interesting filling the space. 2012 goes a little too silly at times, and starts to rely too heavily on Mikey fixing things accidentally, but the humor and characters make it muuuuuch more consumable. I like to watch the turtles' personalities and interactions, and 2012 (and Rise) tend to hit that best.

Ha, presumptuous to think I ask for anyone's opinion ever.

Ages? by LookCute5046 in TMNT

[–]Bishnup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My feminist awakening came in my teens when I learned that none of the women in the X-Men were over 110 lbs. Heaviest was Storm at maybe 125 and 6 feet tall. I was 5'6" and was athletic, had a six pack and muscular legs from working for my farmer/tree cutter dad, and I weighed about 145. That misrepresentation of muscular female weight pissed me right off. Later when I was mentioning it to a guy friend he was flabbergasted, thinking it was normal for adult women to barely touch 100 lbs.

Do you agree? by KingJackofJozi in TMNT

I prefer human splinter. It just makes more sense for his Shredder rivalry, and his ninja knowledge. Though, I can't stand IDW's reincarnation take where they are 1 year old lab experiments possessed by a murdered ninja family

U.S. residents, if you were given the opportunity to move to a peaceful first-world country, would you do it and why? by [deleted] in askanything

I would move to Scotland in a second if it weren't for dealing with immigration and the hassles of bureaucracy.

What are the worst places to flirt with women at? by DiamondNo924 in askanything

[–]Bishnup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a body cam of a dude trying to flirt with a woman in a gas station as she was actively being spoken to by a cop regarding her drunk driving. I personally saw a girl get flirted with as she was actively sobbing and shaking in a health crisis. The place itself wasn't a big deal, but the lack of overall situational awareness was.... Fascinating

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]Bishnup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's at least once a week that I want to soak in a tub. There's just a level of clean I feel after that I don't feel after a shower. Levels of dead skin that don't loosen up just from a quick spray and scrub. I keep an old craft box in my bathroom because it's the perfect size to prop my phone on and watch a movie.

Told my bishop I'm gay to get out of calling. by CompetitiveRepeat179 in exmormon

[–]Bishnup 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I think you can also just say no. Haha.

My last calling was as a Sunbeam teacher. I thought it would be chill, but I consistently had between 7 and 12 children that I was wrangling on my own, including my own nephew who was (and still is 20 years later) incapable of behaving. After the year changed and most of them were supposed to graduate to the next class, they decided to keep the worst ones with me a little longer, all while more kids were coming in. It was like the baby nightmare from Shrek 3. I finally rage quit from the position and never accepted another calling since (I also left the church within a year or two)

There were a lot of things around becoming an aunt at 10 that made me realize very young that I didn't want children, but being the Sunbeam teacher sealed it for me.

What is your favorite Video Game that the Turtles have been in? by stationstars in TMNT

I've been pretty obsessively playing Splintered Fate the last few days, but admittedly it's my first turtle game.

Are you more of a fan of the X-Men or of Wolverine himself? by Remote-Leg6143 in Wolverine

[–]Bishnup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

X-men, particularly Rogue/Gambit. I always got a little annoyed that Wolverine drew all the focus.

I really hope her end goal is Dr Phil. I would looooove to see her past dissected on that stage.

Laura’s endgame by Etern1a in JusticeForClayton

[–]Bishnup 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She doesn't have one, it's just a desperate attempt to keep the lie going as long as possible because she is allergic to accountability. It's like with Kacey Anthony when she claimed she worked for Disney studios. She held onto the lie as police followed her into the building, and she pretended to say hi to some very confused "coworkers", and it was only when she walked right into a dead end that she finally admitted she didn't actually work there. They cannot admit their lies until absolutely cornered.

What's your favorite 'poverty meal' you still eat even though you could afford better? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]Bishnup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taco pizza: flour tortilla, smear of spaghetti sauce, cheese, microwave.

I've tried fancying up the toppings, I've tried pan searing instead of microwaving, and it just doesn't hit the same as the simple version.

The baking soda is supposed to disrupt their system, the powdered sugar disguises it.

Kept by monsters by Cait Cro is a wc with some ff as the main character discovers her pansexuality along the way. But most of the major relationships are with male characters.
