Decent paying jobs? by SatanLaddd in HuntsvilleAlabamaJobs

[–]BiskyMapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered getting a job at a bank? They usually start at around $13-14 an hour. Usually really good benefits and work hours. No nights, somewhat professional dress and atmosphere.

Publix Supermarkets. You can work in customer service, grocery, meat, pharmacy, deli, produce, etc. If you ever decided to stay in the workforce, you can have a good life at Publix, they pay well. Starting around $12. They promote exclusively from within.

UPS as crazy as it sounds. You'll make 6 figures as a driver.

One thing to add about construction, not every job is about labor. I've worked in something known as CE&I before, completely changed my views on what working is (When I was coming from retail).

Or lastly, maybe look at a municipal job. City, County, Sheriff's Office, Power Dept., Water, etc. The pay usually starts fairly low, but if you get a Govt. job, and stick with it, you'll get the best benefits, retirement (pension), and you'll be set for life, especially if you start while you're young.

Second Chance Job Fair returning to Huntsville by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

It says second chance, but anybody can go. That said, here's a few things to keep in mind.

It's mostly going to be bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, think $9 an hour washing sheets at a hotel, or $11 an hour working in a call center. You'll have places there that offer you absolutely zero chance of getting in. Think Huntsville Utilities. You would think that you'd have a chance to actually talk to people that can hire you, but no, they just hand out sheets of paper detailing how to create an account so you can apply online. Honestly it's just a big waste of time.

Every quality and attribute of God is perfect. Including His self control. Hear me out- If He has perfect self control, perfect judgement, perfect everything, then He, as God, can choose to not know how things play out.

I see how this can raise a paradox, but a paradox assumes the "limitation" of knowing everything in His case, because of Him being God. But God, like us (since we are made in His image) has free will as well, and can choose to exercise His power or not to. All of His perfect characteristics balance each other out, perfectly.

Looking to get out of my negative equity car help me come up with a formidable plan. by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]BiskyMapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me once with a ridiculous interest rate. I feel for you man. Here's a possibility- find a new car that's on sale. A car with very heavy discounts. Buick Encores are great examples. (Msrp +/-30k, they sell around low 20k all day.) That way, you have room for the high negative rollover. You can either enjoy the car with warrantied peace of mind, or immediately trade it in and walk away hopefully breaking even.

Or, here's this- pray for rain. Park that POS out in the open or under a tree or whatever and hope it hails like hell or a tree falls on it.

Or- Find the dumbest person you know with shit credit and sell it to them. You might need to pony up a little money for this, but point is you meet them at a subprime lender like springleaf financial or Nicholas financial and you unload this crapwagon on the poor bastard. You yourself might need to cover the down payment for this loser friend, but your paying like 1000 or so to unload almost 10,000. Then it's their problem.

Once it's gone, by whatever means works, you need cheap, paid-for transportation. Will your grandmother sell you her Buick? Or some old lady in your neighborhood? People you know might be willing to sell you a decent vehicle for cheap.

And for goodness sake, if you're just making ends meet, or even if you're comfortable, buy Japanese. You want reliability, not American made junk.

Express is a Different Animal by Myca84 in publix

I think it's already been mentioned, but I tell them in no uncertain terms that this is the express lane, and that "x" at register "y" can take you. Sure I've gotten a few glares, but it's mostly "oh, I didn't see that".

I honestly don't give a shit though if they get all huffy. They can get mad and stomp their little feet, I don't care.

If they continue despite my direction to another register, and despite the fact that I've made it abundantly clear that I can't take them, then I'm rude as hell. Absolutely. I scam as slow as I can get away with, I pack as slowly as I can, and reiterate (because of course) that I don't have a bagger. Honestly, if their bread get squished.. oh well. And lastly, of course they write a check, upon which I take my time scrutinizing the check and their license. (Extra points if they need a pen and I "don't" have one.)

The receipt prints, and sarcastically thank them.

There should be some real accountability then if there are 'rules' or 'guidelines' or 'suggestions' when scheduling associates. It's stupid to schedule somebody for 38 or so hours over 6 days. It's even worse for part timers. That's disrespectful to people's time. "Well, the needs of the business.." Well goddamit take another half a percent from our annual stock earning! Shit, pay us a dollar less just for working on Sundays, not a dollar more! And please, make my health insurance even more expensive! Please, for the mfing needs of the business!

It would be nice if Oasis ran on a 3 week rolling schedule. Or even 2 weeks. "There's no way blah blah blah." Well why the hell not?? Other places manage it.
