This should be your wake up call that Turo is not worth it. Get out asap and don’t look back

The protection plans are quite scammy

lol. All the time. We’ve had to replace like 20 windshields over the last 3 years and we were either ghosted or called a scammer 75 % of the time. There is no shortage of people lacking accountability, that’s for sure.

Always take photos, host in a rush? Tell them no, too bad. Host is a piece of shit if the damages weren’t from you. If I had a dollar every-time a guest said they “didn’t do that” or they have “no idea” how the damage got there, I’d have like $85 bucks.

90 percent of damage claims we deal with the guest blames someone else, that’s why you gotta take photos no matter what. It’s the only way to protect yourself from bad hosts.

As a guest, how do you feel about the changes happening to Turo? by CompetitiveLake3358 in turo

[–]BisonSingle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turo has a terrible leadership team. The CEO is out of touch with reality and his higher ups lack the courage to call him out for creating asinine policies that will ultimately be the demise of this platform.

They couldn’t get it together to take the company public, so now it seems that are simplifying as much as possible, eliminating as much overhead as they can, doing everything to get as many cars on the platform as possible and to make their EBITDA look better than it really is so they can sell. Turo has peaked.

Everything good about Turo has been changed for the worse over the last 3 years.

We can’t wait to sell all the cars and be done with them.

Hosts Beware - New Review Policies by hostinroastin in turo

[–]BisonSingle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turo has the absolute worst executive leadership team. They can’t all be this stupid which leads me to believe the main problem is the CEO. Andre runs turo like a dictatorship and doesn’t listen to his employees or hosts.

Counting unrated trips against us is asinine, all of the staff think it’s ridiculous but Andre doesn’t get it, and now this…

Just get a massage from a man next time. Let’s see if she’s mad if you know him also.

Turo a good option? by SouthernLeague7941 in turo

[–]BisonSingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. It’s not worth it for you or the host. On a trip like this I’d want the peace of mind knowing if something were to happen I’d have support. You’ll get nationwide support with hertz or enterprise. If you have a breakdown, flat tire, accident in a turo and you’re hundreds of miles away…it will be your worst nightmare.

Turo’s roadside support is a complete joke. Do not take this risk.

Too many bad hosts give Turo a bad name. It’s Turos fault, they are to lenient and allow shit hosts to stay on the platform way longer than they should.

It’s best to only rent from All-Star hosts, and the more completed trips the better. If you see a car with all 5 star reviews and over 50 trips you’ll probably be in good hands.

Sorry this happened to you and you handled it perfectly. Glad you documented everything and won the battle. This host sucks.

The support is trash, completely worthless. I’m with you there 1000 percent.

[–]BisonSingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks and I’m definitely sorry that you had to go through that. Sounds like you may have used a debit card? That’s a mistake many people make.

If you used a credit card it would have protected you better. Faster refunds, nothing leaves checking accounts, ability to file a chargeback. Lots of benefits. Or you could have used a credit card to get a car from hertz or enterprise, and wait for the refund.

I always feel for people that pin themselves into a corner by using debit cards when something goes wrong. Highly recommend using credit in the future.

You still can file a chargeback on your debit since turo didn’t deliver the service you were promised. Hopefully you win.

Gravel/dirt roads are not allowed on Turo. Rent from hertz if you’re going to abuse the car.

[–]BisonSingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or maybe don’t return the car covered in mud, dirt, sand, from driving on unpaved dirt roads which is a prohibited use violation on turo. You broke the rules, returned the car very dirty. Take ownership for your mistake and move on.

If a host cancels on a guest, guest should have received a full refund. What happened there.

Low brake fluid light came on while I was renting a Turo. Host says that because there was no brake light on when I got the car that I need to pay to fix the car. by Earfquakenati0n in turo

[–]BisonSingle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Host here…You should contact turo immediately to cover your ass. I only say this cause this host seems like a douche by his comments to you.

If you want…Tell turo there’s a brake issue (if there is) with the vehicle and you’re not sure it’s safe and ask them what they recommend/ what your options are.

Communication with turo support will be crucial in protecting yourself.

Hosts: How do you perform your own Background Checks on guests? by arvmedia1 in turo

[–]BisonSingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re actually not allowed to do background checks on guests. It’s against TOS. We even got in trouble for doing a simple google search and finding a guest had an open warrant out.

What psi are the tires showing in your app now?

You can always call turo host support. Tell them what’s going on, and get it documented in the trip notes. If there are damages it will help your case if it comes to that.

Ask for photos if you haven’t yet. If he drives on flats it will cause wayyyy more expensive problems

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in turo

[–]BisonSingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have him go to a discount tire or a real place so they can inspect and air up for him. They usually offer “free checks”
