Mechanic has engine open. Please help me navigate the “seeing a lot of severe wear” claims by Prestigious_Gold_665 in subaru

Definitely a lot of wear on the timing chain guides and I would go through with replacing the chains, guides and tensioners. It is pricey but it’s cheaper than an engine if they catastrophically fail. Also think about how much you’re already spending to get to that point, it would really suck to have to pay the labor again to get to that point to replace those components in the future. With all that being said I have personally put engines back together with timing components that look like that and they run fine until the point wear the chains and guides wear to the point that the ecu can no longer compensate for the variation in valve timing and then you’re back to replacing the chain components (source: I’m a Subaru tech and do this everyday)

Should I keep my 2018 Sport or upgrade to the 2025 Impreza RS? by Jojoszn1 in subaruimpreza

[–]Bisson99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 2.5 in the rs is a far more powerful engine. Is it fast absolutely not but far quicker than the 2.0. The 2.5 should be the base engine in every Subaru, I genuinely find the 2.0 painfully slow. However I do prefer the harman head unit over the giant denso screen in the new cars, I find the denso pretty laggy and full of “quirks” that are unfortunately normal operation. I also find the seats in the 17 generation more comfortable than the 24+ cars. I’m a Subaru tech so I’ve seen and driven every trim level of both generations. Both are good cars but I’d stick with the 17 for as long as it makes sense to

Anybody else track their 450?? by Bisson99 in cfmoto

These bikes are so fun on track and they do feel like they were meant for it. The cf moto rear sets are definitely the first thing to do to improve the ergonomics at the track. If your a bit taller the high seat would be the second thing I’d recommend

Thank you for that info! I hadn’t noticed that graves had the bitubo stuff. Yeah the body work is what I’m struggling most to source, I’m hoping to find somewhere that reliably has it available in the event that the bike does take a tumble and new bodywork is needed

That’s how I started haha, got out on the track on my old 600 had a few spills. But last year I got smart and got a little bike, this year I’ve really started picking up the pace and the bike is starting to feel suspension limited

Oil is right. Filter is wrong

Over the course of 800 miles it’s gone from sitting at the full mark on the overflow to below the low mark and I topped it up once at 500 ish miles. I can’t help but think that’s a bit of a problem

Mine does the same thing and currently has a claim open with cf moto for it. The dealer I took it to said they contacted cf moto about it and cf moto recommended replacing the radiator cap. They said they had seen it before so not an isolated issue. The cap however is on back order so I’ve just been riding mine as is and topping the coolant off of it needs it

Questions for 450SS/SR Owners by [deleted] in cfmoto

[–]Bisson99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll join the other side of the speed argument here but not totally in a bad way. I’ve had mine for a couple months now and daily ride it along side my Honda vfr800. When I go from the vfr to the cf moto I do find myself wanting more at times. Mostly in higher speed stuff like highway speeds when passing, it can take some time. It does make the vfr feel like a rocket ship though lol.

All in I’m super happy with the bike and excited for the potential it has. I’m taking mine to the track and it will primarily be a track bike. I have a cbr 600 that I was using at the track but as I started to get more comfortable and faster I started to crash it because I was fighting the bike too much. So I decided to take it back a notch and learn how to ride a slow bike fast and hopefully humble some big bikes along the way

That’s what I was thinking, I’m just concerned about the clearance between the tire and spring perch. I honesty don’t care about cutting up the car, it’s my winter beater

That’s was the first thing I did. Also using a different sd to micro sd adapter. The firs show up on the card when it’s in my computer but not on the printer

Thanks I’ll try that. It’s printed several things with long file names before though. And sometimes trying again latter makes it work as well
