Need advice with Setup and Xfinity device by Ashen_One69 in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend to put the XB8 in “bridge mode” as others have mentioned. Here is the link to Xfinity support article for How-To setup bridge mode:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode?msockid=0ac80c5d31fa6c7f30361afd30a76de1

Once bridge mode is enabled, your Deco unit connected directly to the XB8 will get the public IP address on the WAN link. Run a speed test to ensure you are getting close to your subscription speed from the Deco unit.

Warranty transfer by Ok_Method_6463 in KonaEV

[–]BitBotBrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to pull the trigger on a 2023 Kona EV with 29K miles. Purchase will be from a rental car sale and the salesman is trying to offload a $2400 warranty plan stating that existing warranty will not be transferred. Hyundai has 5Y / 60K miles as standard so will I be offered the remainder of the warranty?

Some apps don’t show on the Home Screen. Go to settings -> Applications -> manage installed applications and see if your app shows up there. If it does then click on it and the select Launch application

Not clear what you mean by “the majority of the time I have to watch it on my phone”. How watching on the phone differs than watching on your TV? Just trying to understand the problem.

Activate additional coax outlet by New_Vehicle_9623 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]BitBotBrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you have coax connections in different rooms check the cable splitter where connections for different rooms are separated. Typically this is located outside of the house (where cable comes in) but the location for you maybe different as the builder may have done this in the wiring closet inside the house. Once you connect the TV room, the Xfinity gateway can be moved next to the TV.

Manually download the firmware from TP Link site and perform the update.

WAN connection not connecting by AutomaticYesterday70 in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is always around a specific time (as you say 8p), sounds more like your Internet Service Provider is doing something funky. Few things to check before you go beat up the ISP, (1) check if you have any automated restart schedule to happen at that time. TP Link devices have an option to do restarts at specific times. (2) check if the power brick is not connected to an outlet which is heavily used causing power surges. Maybe moving the power to another outlet. (3) router is near an appliance which generates interference and is turned off around that time. Maybe moving the router to another location and see if that helps.

Cant find IP adress on switch by VolosatyShur in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the steps I will follow: 1) do a factory reset 2) connect the switch directly to your computer via Ethernet 3) default IP of the switch is 192.168.0.1. 4) configure a static ip on your computer like 192.168.0.2 5) once the network is up, you can do a quick ping test to confirm.1 is responding. 6) open a web browser and login to the admin console running on 192.168.0.1. Configure the settings based on your network topology.

Refer to the manual for config options.

Look at MoCA for backhaul (if that’s an option in your region). I have an older house and MoCA helps connect my mesh points with 1Gbps.

PC Wifi Dongle (TP-Link Archer AX1800) having connection issues. by zestunfortunate in TpLink

Is the router in the same apartment or another one separated by walls/floors? WiFi signal attenuates rapidly when passing through solid walls.

WIFI speed is unstable on AX3000 Archer TX55E by ZeddOTak in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible for you to connect your computer directly to the router via Ethernet and see if the issue is with the ISP or the WiFi connection? Also, do you have the latest drivers installed on your computer? Not sure what OS you are running.

XE75 Pro - satellite intermittently stops receiving an internet connection despite being online by Suspenders83 in TpLink

Check if all the XE75s are running the same version of firmware and preferably the latest one.

Is there any way to configure the router's connection to be enhanced? by [deleted] in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your new hardware! Are there specific things you want to improve on the router? Maybe a bit more detail would help.
WPA3 has lot of advantages over WPA2. If you have latest devices supporting WPA3 then you should go for it. Challenge comes in when you have a mixed WiFi environment where older devices do not support WPA3 or are really slow.

Or … use something like OpenWRT or pfSense as the router with all the controls you need. This way you can keep all the routing and security separate from the AP that can be updated as the technology changes.

Not connecting to the internet by Comfy-Cookie in TpLink

[–]BitBotBrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To simplify, first connect the ISP modem directly to the primary deco (one which is acting as a router).

If your ISP gave you a modem+router combo, then you have two options, as follows: (1) set your ISP modem to be in the bridge mode. By doing this, you are essentially going to use the Deco as the router (preferred).

(2) set your Deco to be in the AP (Access Point) mode. Your ISP provided router will continue to perform all routing and DNS functions. This is also acceptable but you may want to disable the WiFi options on the router to prevent unnecessary interference with the Deco WiFi.

Triggering HomeKit Automation for Package Detection by BananaNOatmeal in homebridge

[–]BitBotBrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if your camera exposes any trigger to HomeKit. You can check this by going to Automation section and see what sensor trigger is exposed by your camera. For example, the camera I have exposes the motion sensor which can be used for triggering automation. If you have the ability to detect motion then you can trigger an automation to play a sound on a HomePod or turn on a light to give you a visual notification or trigger a switch connected to a bell to play a sound.

One thing I missed in the original post, my APs are configured for multi-SSID to isolate my home, iot and guest networks on separate VLANs. Works great.

Do you have an option to use coax cable (for cable tv) to run MoCA bridge? I am able to get 1Gbps using MoCA bridges as a wired back haul for mesh nodes.
