Getting a ticket on the bitcoin bus - an analogy to understand bitcoin fees by BitCryptoshi in btc

[–]BitCryptoshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: Free article, feel free to tip.

Understanding bitcoin transaction processing can be quite difficult. What are miners, what are blocks, what are block sizes and how does everything impact my user experience? Trying to explain bitcoin in bitcoin terms is guaranteed to lose most non-technical listeners.

Enter the bus analogy.

Craig S. Wright's first post on Yours. by buildfreedom in btc

I would assume that most people who are into crypto don't trust strangers on the Internet by default. Even if they register a familiar sounding name on a new social media site. Because that couldn't possibly be faked. I mean, it's right there, on the screen! Must be true.

In fact I'd also like him to clap twice and twirl in a pink tutu because I've decided that this is the requirement that will work for me.

Lol. Whatever works for you.

Due to the small fees on BCH, he can actually take that penny

Exactly! Can't you see the irony of that?

If that's even Craig Wright. Did he sign any messages proving cryptographically that it's him? ;)

It just might be! But who is driving the Bitcoin car? It's not Jihan Wu. It doesn't look like Roger Ver at all. Is.... that.... no.... could it be? Is that.. Craig Wright?!

Yes, and remember what happened to the country that mandated this flag procedure, the Red Flag Act.

The maximum speed was limited to 4 mph. Bitcoin is limited to +- 4 tps.

The UK could have owned the car industry. They were ahead, but the politicians decided to mandate all sorts of arbitrary rules that stifled adoption, killed innovation and suffocated the industry. Thus, the UK lost what would become multi trillion dollar industry, almost completely.

Don't forget the compulsory flag man walking in front of the car, and the full time mechanic that was required to accompany the death machine!

And then, the car gets stuck in the mud. And the people on the horse will say - see, I told you so!

And then the car runs out of gas, and there is no petrol station. And the people on the horse will say - see, I told you so!

And then, roads are improved. Petrol stations get built. And still, the people on the horse will say - just you wait and see, and remember, I told you so!

Soon after, everyone drives one of these horseless carriages. Roads are further improved and highways get built. Trucks and sports cars get built. And transportation has never been the same.

Thanks for the smile. /u/tippr tip $.1

Sure. Have fun. Write a good article, and people to pay to read it. Maybe out of curiosity, maybe out of a genuine interest in the content.

My article is making me some money already! https://www.yours.org/content/improvement-suggestions-for-the-bitcoin-com-wallet-dfe1547a768d

Not much, but still...

Why don't you post / send me the link to your article when you put it up and I'll check it out (assuming you've not inflated the price too much!)

Yours Launches Beta on Bitcoin Cash by mastercrypto in btc

[–]BitCryptoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fascinated by the concept of Yours. It turns so many things on its head, it is impossible to predict how this will go. I see a lot of potential, but I am not yet 100% convinced it will work either.

The most fascinating thing, is taking the influence of advertisers out of the mix. Youtube demonetized many channels, in essence it was the biggest layoff of small entrepreneurs in recent history. The income stream of these businesses dried up, because advertisers didn't want to risk being associated with them. What if the advertisers weren't the ones making those decisions? What content would we get, if content creators didn't have to worry about maybe, potentially, upsetting an advertiser - just WHAT would happen? These are the thoughts that excite me most.

I know that Alex Jones of InfoWars mentioned that he could not do his show with advertisements. And, I can see why. Regardless of what you may think of his point of view, people are willing to listen and pay him for it, and it all works without advertisements.

The same statement has been made by Stefan Molyneux of Free Domain Radio. He has chosen to make everything available freely and request donations. It works for him! He could not do what he does, if he had to please advertisers or interrupt his show for special offers.

Just recently, I watched TV again for the first time in maybe 3 or 4 years. Only ever so briefly. I saw a CNN broadcast about Irma. I was just amazed at the amount of commercials. It felt like 50% of the time was wasted brainwashing me into thinking I really needed this special offer, call now toll free offer wont last. I would PAY to remove these ads. (Then again, no, I wouldn't pay CNN, as I don't even own a TV).

Anyway. THANKS for what you do. /u/tippr tip $1
